    {MINI EPISODE} Holiday Challenge

    {MINI EPISODE} Holiday Challenge

It's Holiday Week over here at Good Grief HQ and we are talking about how you can enjoy your holidays WHILE grieving. We know that the holidays are hard and we know that you're doing your best. We hope that these mini episodes can help you to find some clarity and bring a little bit more magic into your holidays this season. Even in the midst of grief.

    {MINI EPISODE} Holiday Challenge

My goal is to get on stories at least once a day and share (WITH VIDEO) something that has gone well or that was good in my day. I’m vowing to do that until the New Year.

I want to invite you to do the same. Seek out the good things that happen every day. Even if they’re small. ESPECIALLY if they’re small. Notice those things that you do right. That your partner does right. Notice them. Point them out. And invite more of those moments of goodness into your life by recognizing them.

Wherever you are on your journey— you’re right where you need to be. And with each new day, you can get closer to transforming your grief into a force for good. Step by step and day by day, you’ll get closer. And things will get lighter and easier. And you’ll start to see the little bits of magic in each day. Your situation may not be any different, but YOU will be different. And that’s where the magic really happens.

{MINI EPISODE} How to Take a Social Media Break & Why You Might Want to Try One This Holiday Season

{MINI EPISODE} How to Take a Social Media Break & Why You Might Want to Try One This Holiday Season

{MINI EPISODE} How to Take a Social Media Break & Why You Might Want to Try One This Holiday Season

You need to know when to take a break AND when it’s safe to come back. Like I mentioned earlier, holiday content and holiday pregnancy announcements are still quite a bit triggering for me. So during the holidays, I try to stay off social media as much as possible. But when it comes to “Trigger Heavy” social media days (ie: the ACTUAL holiday or something like Christmas Eve), I stay offline and then wait at least 2-3 days for the algorithms to shuffle potential triggering content down my feed. Does this guarantee that I’ll miss out on all of the potentially triggering content? No, no, it doesn’t. BUT it gives me a higher possibility of missing it. And that’s what’s important to me. It gives me a sense of control over my own situation and that allows me to enjoy things (the holidays especially) more fully.

    My Journaling Story

    My Journaling Story

I’ve always been a writer. For as long as I can remember. One of my earliest memories is scribbling on a piece of paper and asking my older sister what it said. Of course, it said nothing, but I’ve always felt a pull to write. When I was eight years old, I was given my first “official” journal. I wrote in it when I remembered and it brought me peace in times of trouble.

Journaling has always been an outlet for me and over the years it has looked different. In this episode I share a few different ways that I've journaled throughout my life as well as how journaling has helped me transform my own grief into a force for good in my life.

    Imposter Syndrome in Grief

    Imposter Syndrome in Grief

Trigger Warnings: This episode mentions struggles with infertility, struggles with faith, and suicidal ideation.

    Episode Overview:

Imposter syndrome in grief is defined as, “The persistent inability to believe that one’s grief is valid or legitimately experienced as a result of one’s own thoughts or feelings.”

I think we all feel this NEED to legitimize our experiences. Or rationalize WHY they were difficult. It’s like we feel the need to be able to adequately explain our feelings and emotions in order for them to be valid. But the fact is, if you felt it, it was real and valid. And that’s enough.

This episode will talk through my own journey of overcoming imposter syndrome and hopefully help guide others to overcome it as well.
