I was exhausted and lost in the chaos of my grief. I clung tightly to the anchor in the darkness, expressing my grief to God the only way I knew how until one day I had to make a choice: stay in the bitter, angry lane or take a step toward building back my life. The road was scary and unfamiliar, but I learned which tools I needed to walk this road of grief.     Today we are focusing on self care. The steps you need to put into place to create an environment that will support you in your life, where you are right now.   We are building on the theme of the last two episodes on how to face the New Year with hope by putting in place steps that will lead to restoring those peaceful rhythms, and how to use distractions in a healthy productive way.  Today we are discussing the 4 components of self care that go much deeper than a mani/pedi or a massage. The type of self care that creates a foundation to carry you through those heavy grief days.  So I want you take a deep breath, find a comfy place to absorb this information and allow your body and brain to relax and soak it all in. By definition a distraction is something that turns your attention away from something else. It’s crucial to find healthy distractions to allow for moments of rest and emotional relief.  Distractions can prevent you from moving into a state of emotional exhaustion that can lead to unhealthy behaviors and unstable mental health.     Restoring rhythms of life is a challenge when life as you know it disappears into the chaos of grief. Now is a great time to start rebuilding those rhythms. Instead of focusing on resolutions that are so often discussed this time of year. Stay away from the chatter on SM and the grocery store magazine headlines about how to start the new year.  Let's you and me focus on what will gently restore some stability in your life.    Today we are discussing how to start slowly and build back those rhythms one step at a time. I can’t wait to share my plan with you.   What I’m sharing with you today is exactly what I did to restore my rhythms of life.
