This is a community for the givers and the doers. We have the grit, we’ve powered through, and now we are ready for the other side. Now we are ready for the conversations that remind us about self-care, a dialogue that brings us back to purpose, and helps us find more room to breathe and live life with a little more ease. We want to discover tools and ways of thinking that support alignment, build stronger connections, help us find better questions, and live our best life. Most weeks we laugh, some weeks the topics touch close to home and there is a tear in our eye, but ultimately; this is where we grow together as seekers and thrivers. www.TheGritShow.com

TT Gratitude, Regret, & Letting Go -22

TT Gratitude, Regret, & Letting Go -22

Is there something that you want in your life? Something that you wish you had room for? What might you let go of to invite that in?
Gratitude and Regret are two very different emotions and today Shawna shares how gratitude may be the key to letting go; and that sometimes letting go starts with letting go of regret. This week we are revisiting the one-on-one style of Thursday Thoughts- but on a Tuesday with the longer length of our Tuesday episodes.

    Breakthroughs & Breathwork w/Benedict Beaumont -21

Have you ever given much thought to breath? It’s something you do every second of every day, but not something we give much thought. In today’s conversation we get to learn about the transformative power of breath. How accessible it is and how useful a tool it can be. Today’s guest is Benedict Beaumont, a Breathwork Facilitator, Yoga Teacher, and founder of the Breathing Space School of Breathwork. We get to hear some interesting stories from Ben’s path to get him where he is today including where things needed to shift and allow for a breakthrough.
We also made time for breathwork which Ben describes as “...an extraordinary, extraordinary, transformational experience… I call it therapy for those people who don't wanna talk about their problems or meditation for those people who can't meditate.”
Breathing Space has regular facilitator trainings and the one led by Ben starts November 14th, so your opportunity to sign up, is now. There's more about this toward the end of the episode.
Before he discovered Breathwork, Ben was mostly a high school teacher in the South Coast of England, sometimes a chef and chalet manager in the French Alps, occasionally a writer and always an adventurer. He now lives in Canada with his wife and young daughter.

Health & Aging for Women from Gut Health to Hormones w/Dr. Robin Miller -20

Health & Aging for Women from Gut Health to Hormones w/Dr. Robin Miller -20

As we age, it's hard to think of it as just a number. Many women feel less valued and a little invisible. Dr. Robin Miller heard this from her patients and wrote the book “Invisible or Invincible: Your Choice” in response. She wants to empower women to take control of their health and aging and be seen. From hormones to gut health (yes, all comes down to poop) to integrating exercise and joy, we touch on a lot of relevant topics.
Dr. Robin Miller, an established author (The Smart Woman’s Guide to Midlife and Beyond, Kids Ask the Doctor, and Healed: Health and Wellness for the 21st Century), gave us an exciting advanced glimpse at her latest book, “Invisible or Invincible: Your Choice”. She has gathered the knowledge, insights and information offered in this book over the course of 33 years of treating patients using the principles of integrative medicine and personal experience. Board-certified in Internal Medicine, she trained with Andrew Weil as an Integrative Medicine Fellow at University of Arizona. She is currently Medical Director of Triune Integrative Medicine, a highly innovative, consultative integrative medicine company in Medford, Oregon. She serves as an Executive Advisory Board member for Sharecare, an interactive health and wellness website founded in conjunction with Oprah and Jeff Arnold (Creator of WebMD). Robin is also a medical reporter and a regular correspondent for KOBI-TV NBC5.
She writes a regular column for the Grants Pass Courier and can be heard on Jefferson Public Radio on her show, Doctor to Doctor. She lives in southern Oregon with her husband and in her free time when she isn’t dancing, she tends to the vineyard they own together known as Peter William Vineyard.
In this episode, Robin talks to us about the importance of gut health in overall health and immunity, the impact of a good diet, and the importance of exercise. Thank you for being a part of our community.

Reflect, Learn, Grow; Shifts in Purpose and the Importance of Connection w/Billy Lahr -19

Reflect, Learn, Grow; Shifts in Purpose and the Importance of Connection w/Billy Lahr -19

Do you know what it feels like to be living in your purpose?
Sometimes how you express your purpose in life can shift, especially as you age.
Our guest today talked about feeling burnt out and feeling unappreciated in a career that met his definition of purpose and his way of adding value for years. So what happens when it is time to shift? You can hear the excitement and energy in his voice when he explains he started his podcast because he, “…wanted to create a platform that gave space to people who wanted to share their expertise and their life experiences in order to help people navigate the complexities and possibilities of life's second half.” We also touch on the challenges of talking about Mental Health for men, the importance of social connection and much more.
Our guest, Billy Lahr, had a lot to share.
He is the host of The Mindful Midlife Crisis, a podcast for people navigating the complexities and possibilities of life’s second half. Billy spent 21 years as an educator, noting a lack of job satisfaction and budding mental health concerns during the last half of his career. In 2021, Billy left his job as dean of students to travel the world in search of more meaningful life experiences. While in Korea, Billy’s path in life became crystal clear to him, and as a result, he co-created Reflect. Learn. Grow. to help others develop an awareness of thoughts and behaviors through self-reflection to cultivate a more purpose-filled life. During this episode, we will learn more about the Reflect. Learn. Grow. program, and some of what led Billy to start this program and his project. We also touch on the Five Love Languages, and much more. Thank you for being part of our community and joining us for today’s conversation!

Scrappy Rough Drafts in Writing and Life w/ Donna Barker -18

Scrappy Rough Drafts in Writing and Life w/ Donna Barker -18

What do you think of when I say scrappy rough draft? Perhaps a paper you had to write in high school or, for some of our braver souls, a book you started writing?
Today we chatted with a USA Today bestseller who published her first book on the eve of turning 50. As part of her repertoire, she has a book for authors on Mindset entitled Scrappy First Draft. In today’s conversation, we applied this way of thinking to even more things, including our careers and the way we look at improving our lives. We even touch on skill-stacking, which is a fun concept that I think some of you will appreciate. If you are a writer, especially an aspiring romance novelist, hold out to the end for a special code for discounts on a great program Donna has available to you.
Donna Barker has spent most of her 30-year career as a self-employed communications expert, supporting progressive, not-for-profit organizations in Canada. As a small business mentor on contract with Canada’s largest credit union, Donna coached dozens of aspiring entrepreneurs, helping them write business plans and cash flow projections to attain small business loans. As her alter ego, Danika Bloom, she’s a USA Today bestselling romance author of spicy romantic comedies. Today, she blends her communications and business backgrounds with her passion for working with romance authors. Author Ever After is Danika’s online community that helps other romance authors turn their writing hobby into an income-generating business, creating happily ever afters.
