Courtside 36: It's time for a female NBA head coach
Becky Hammon, Teresa Weatherspoon, Kara Lawson and Dawn Staley have all been linked to NBA head coaching vacancies. Christy Winters-Scott and Gabe Ibrahim explain why it's time for one of them to be hired. They also look at the surging Dallas Wings, the healthy Chicago Sky and the WNBA All-Star Game.
Nicki Collen - Baylor Lady Bears Head Coach
When you’re trying to replace a legend, it’s important to hit a home run in the hiring process. Stealing a coach out of the WNBA seems like a great place to start.
Nicki Collen talks with John about her approach to building a team around her in Waco…both with blue chip players and people-first coaches.
Coach Collen also discusses her feelings a month after leaving her position with the Atlanta Dream. And speaking of dreams…her interest in owning a coffee shop one day.
Unplugged #68 - Megan Gauer and Calvin Wetzel
With a third of the regular season already behind us for many teams, Megan Gauer and Calvin Wetzel reflect on the WNBA action so far. They comment on each of the 12 teams and how their opinions have changed since the preseason.
Sloane Martin - Minnesota Lynx Play-by-Play
While basketball fans know her for her exploits behind the mic for the Minnesota Lynx, there’s so much more to Sloane Martin. The Twin Cities-based broadcaster is also a talented news reporter, who has covered the saga surrounding the murder of George Floyd with poise and professionalism.
Courtside 35: Phoenix Mercury rising and WNBA Trade talk
The basketball world has gone crazy lately and the WNBA is at the center of it! Kia Nurse's halfcourt heave, Brittney Griner's dunk, the big Dallas-Chicago trade and the Connecticut Sun's great defense are just the tip of the iceberg. Christy Winters-Scott and Gabe Ibrahim get into all of it plus talk about Coach K's retirement and Liz Cambage's great game.
Courtside 34: Tina Charles is dominating (as are injuries)
Tina Charles is having one of the best stretches of her career right now, as the Washington Mystic is putting up 30 points with ease. Christy Winters-Scott and Gabe Ibrahim break down Tina's play, the injuries to Diana Taurasi and other WNBA stars as well as the unacceptable words that Curt Miller said to Liz Cambage.
Listen to a WBB podcast daily
John Liddle is a perfect moderator. He is very talented. I am a new WBB fan, as the women’s team at the U of A in Tucson has been so much fun to watch. These podcasts are a perfect distraction to the daily grind and especially during a stressful time in our country. Thanks for such a positive and interesting distraction/new hobby.
This woman needs to speak with a lot more clarity. Her words do not come out clearly thereby diminishing the content.
