Chris Bosh: How to successfully deal with change

Chris Bosh: How to successfully deal with change

Chris Bosh is a NBA Hall of Famer, eleven-time All-Star, two-time NBA champion, Olympic gold medalist, and the league’s Global Ambassador. Chris had his playing days cut short at their prime by a freak medical condition. His extraordinary career ended not at a time of his choosing but “in a doctor’s office in the middle of the afternoon.”
Forced to reckon with how to find meaning to carry forward, he found himself looking back over his path, from a teenager in Dallas who balanced basketball with the high school robotics club to the pinnacle of the NBA and beyond.
Reflecting on all he learned from a long list of basketball legends, from LeBron and Kobe to Pat Riley, he saw that his important lessons weren’t about basketball so much as the inner game of success—right attitude, right commitment, right flow within a team. Now he shares that journey with his book ‘Letters to a Young Athlete’ which is out now.

Brilliant

I am a senior partner at a global investment bank and have found this podcast to be an outstanding source of great content - for both my personal and professional life. Jake and Damian do a fantastic job carrying a wonderful natural conversation with very successful individuals, while being able to skillfully dive into the particulars of what makes that person tick. I take away very valuable bits from each episode. I have recommended many of the episodes to my colleagues and clients - all with very positive feedback. Keep up the strong work!

If possible it would be brilliant if the team could do a podcast with Kristen Holmes. Kristen is currently at Whoop (VP of Performance) and has a very impressive sports background - former member of the U.S. National Field Hockey Team and one of the most successful coaches in Ivy League history, having won 12 league titles in 13 seasons and the first national championship ever for Princeton University and the Ivy League.

Best learning tool ever

I’ve recently discovered the pod and have been bingeing it nonstop. As a college soccer coach in the US being able to hear from top professionals such as Robin Van Persie, Dina Asher Smith, and Toto Wolff have been enlightening. I’ve taken notes, reflected on my own culture, and really grown because of this podcast. Thank you for this Mr. Humphrey and Prof. Hughes!!

Constant Motivator

I’m a 32-year-old from Wellingborough in Northamptonshire, which has been consistently marked as a place with one of the worst scores for social mobility in the U.K. But, I’m about to graduate with a Legal Doctorate in California. Throughout this experience I’ve had an overwhelming inferiority complex the whole time. This podcast has helped me more than anything. As a United fan, I loved Rio and his absolute commitment to winning at all costs, and Phil Nev’s relentless push for success; but, as a person, listening to Stevie G talk about the complete immersion of failure and how that drives him forward was the realest conversation you’ve had. Thank you for pushing boundaries, for asking real questions, and for providing such an insight to the relentless mentality of success!
