Episode One: Before the Map – Presence, Pause, and the Starting Point of Inner Work

Podcast Series: The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: A Book Club Series Host: Alicia Divers | Somatic Practitioner & Enneagram Teacher Guest Author: Sandra Smith 🎙️ In This Episode: We begin our six-week journey through Sandra Smith’s The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self by slowing down and starting exactly where the book does—with presence. In this opening episode, Alicia reflects on what presence means somatically, spiritually, and personally. Through story, teaching, and a guided body-based practice, she explores why presence is the foundation for all meaningful change—and why the Enneagram is more than a personality typing system. You’ll learn: Why presence matters more than insight What the passion of Type Eight (lust) feels like in the body How somatic work creates space between impulse and choice Why the pause is where transformation begins Whether you’re new to the Enneagram or already know your number, this episode invites you to return to the moment—and to yourself.   Reflection Question: What does presence feel like in your body—and what helps you return to it?   Resources Mentioned: 📖 The Enneagram Map to Your Deeper Self: Living Beyond Your Type by Sandra Smith Buy the book here Learn more about Sandra Smith at www.sandrasmith.com Explore somatic work and Enneagram coaching with Alicia at www.somatic-spirituality.com ------ Support The Hive by becoming a Patreon member: https://www.patreon.com/thehiveapiary Visit our website and join our Membership Community! thehiveapiary.com Subscribe to the Hive's email newsletter for more great content: https://bit.ly/thehiveemailsubscribe Join the Hive's Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheHiveGroupSpiritualityandWellness Follow the Hive on Instagram:  @thehiveapiary Get in touch: thehiveapiary@gmail.com

The Great Wait - Introduction Class

Starting Sunday, December 1st for Members! Check out this preview of the upcoming course, "The Great Wait - Celtic Advent Meditation."  Course Description: Join us for a contemplative journey through the sacred tradition of Celtic Christianity in "The Great Wait." This course invites participants to explore the four sacred readings from the Christmas Eve Vigil, immersing ourselves in the rich tapestry of scripture and meditation. The ancient Celts gathered around the fire on Christmas Eve to retell the key moments of the Birth of Jesus during different parts of the night. Each passage corresponds to the dance of darkness and light that surrounded the community as they told the ancient story of waiting for Christ anew. Each week, we’ll reflect on one of the readings, engaging in thoughtful discussions that illuminate the themes of divine presence and the universal embrace of God's love made Incarnate in Jesus. Our time together will include a meditative sit, where we allow the wisdom of the scriptures to resonate within our hearts. To deepen your exploration, journal prompts will be provided, encouraging personal reflection and insight into how these themes connect to your own spiritual journey. Together, we’ll contemplate the ways God reaches out to all people and fosters a deeper understanding of hope, anticipation, and community during this sacred season. Experience the stillness and renewal of Advent as we await the extraordinary gift of Christmas. All new Memberships start with a 7-day free trial.  Visit our website and join our Membership Community! thehiveapiary.com ------ Support The Hive by becoming a Patreon member: https://www.patreon.com/thehiveapiary Subscribe to the Hive's email newsletter for more great content: https://bit.ly/thehiveemailsubscribe Join the Hive's Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/TheHiveGroupSpiritualityandWellness Follow the Hive on Instagram:  @thehiveapiary Get in touch: thehiveapiary@gmail.com

Fear, Mist, and Monsters - Job: Chaos, Monsters, & Unification

Class 4 In the Book of Job, we hear God ask, “Can you pull in Leviathan with a fishhook or tie down its tongue with a rope? Can you put a cord through its nose or pierce its jaw with a hook?" (Job 41:1) The Leviathan is just one of the metaphorical chaos monsters that are mentioned in the book and they show us just how unknowable the whole universe is. In Job, we learn that true union with God is a STAGE of spiritual development and not a one-time STATE. But we are asked to enter into the mystery of God’s wisdom even further as we learn to let go of our preconceived expectations of life. Activity: Contemplation Want the full course including the associated activities? Become a Member at The Hive and gain instant access to this and many other incredible courses in our Membership-exclusive library!    Course Description: In our lives, we face real fears, pain, and suffering. These things can feel like metaphorical monsters lurking in the shadows and mist of a murky reality.  It can seem wherever we turn, there are people who can only seem to offer Hallmark-esque platitudes and even toxic positivity in response to the actual help our souls desire. The Biblical Wisdom tradition takes the opposite approach to pain and suffering. Through Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, and Job (three of the classic Wisdom books in the Bible), we can find a pattern that has been time-tested to help us find deep growth, even when we're facing the things we fear most in this life. Taking an in-depth academic and spiritual approach to these three Book of the Bible, we can learn to grow in wisdom and hope.
