What Would You Do if All Podcast Stats Went Away, Would You Keep Podcasting?

What Would You Do if All Podcast Stats Went Away, Would You Keep Podcasting?

The Daily Dave - Podcasting Tips - What Would You Do if All Podcast Stats Went Away, Would You Keep Podcasting

What would you do if your podcast stats just (POOF!) vanished? Would you stop podcasting?

At the end of the day, connecting with your audience and making a positive impact on their lives is what truly matters. So, how can you gain valuable audience feedback beyond just download statistics? Here are some ideas:

Encourage listener interactions: At the end of each episode, prompt your listeners to share their thoughts, questions, or stories related to the topic. Provide an email address or social media handle where they can reach out.
Conduct listener surveys: Periodically send out surveys to gather feedback on what your audience enjoys, what they'd like to see more of, and how the podcast has impacted their lives.
Engage on social media: Be active on platforms like Twitter (X), Facebook, or Reddit, where your listeners congregate. Respond to comments, start discussions, and build a community around your podcast.
Attend live events: Consider hosting or attending live events like PodSummit, our regular podcaster meetups, or conferences related to your podcast's niche. This allows you to connect with listeners face-to-face and gain invaluable insights.
Offer a hotline or voicemail (speakpipe): Set up a dedicated phone number or voicemail service where listeners can leave audio messages, feedback, or even record questions for future episodes.

By implementing these strategies, you'll not only gain a deeper understanding of your audience's needs and preferences but also foster a stronger connection with your listeners – something that no download statistic can truly measure.Remember, at the core of every successful podcast is a genuine desire to connect with people and make a positive impact on their lives. So, even if there were no podcast statistics available, the real measure of success would be the meaningful connections you've made and the lives you've touched through your content.

E245 - You've Done Hard Things Before, If Someone Believed in You Would You Start Your Podcast

E245 - You've Done Hard Things Before, If Someone Believed in You Would You Start Your Podcast

Episode 245 - You've Done Hard Things Before, If Someone Believed in You Would You Start Your Podcast?

Embarking on the journey of becoming a podcaster, like any new endeavor, is a daunting task. Yet, as the saying goes, "It doesn’t get easier, you get stronger."

Through each trial and tribulation, I emerge stronger and more resilient. Though the growth may not always be immediately visible to others, I find solace in knowing that with each hurdle overcome, I am evolving into a better podcaster and a more confident individual.

Embrace the Challenge and Start Your Podcast Journey

Now that you've learned about the concept of growth through challenge and resilience in the context of podcasting, it's time to take action! Here's a practical step you can take to kickstart your podcasting journey:

    1. Identify Your Passion and Unique Voice: Take some time to reflect on what topics you're passionate about and what unique perspective or expertise you can bring to the podcasting world. Whether it's discussing your favorite hobbies, sharing insights from your profession, or exploring niche interests, find what resonates with you.

    2. Set Clear Goals and Milestones: Define your podcasting goals, whether it's reaching a certain number of listeners, producing a set number of episodes, or establishing yourself as an authority in your niche. Break down these goals into smaller, achievable milestones to keep yourself motivated and track your progress.

    3. Equip Yourself with Knowledge and Resources: Research the technical aspects of podcasting, such as recording equipment, editing software, and hosting platforms. There are plenty of online resources, tutorials, and communities available to help you navigate the technicalities of podcast production.

    4. Take the First Step: Don't let fear of the unknown hold you back. Start small by recording a pilot episode or even just outlining your podcast format and content. Remember, it's okay to start imperfectly—every podcaster begins somewhere.

    5. Practice Resilience and Perseverance: Understand that challenges and setbacks are inevitable on the podcasting journey. Embrace them as opportunities for growth and learning. When faced with obstacles, draw upon your inner strength and determination to push through.

    6. Seek Feedback and Iterate: Once you've launched your podcast, solicit feedback from friends, family, and early listeners. Use their insights to refine your content, improve your delivery, and enhance the overall listening experience. Remember, constructive criticism is invaluable for growth.

    7. Celebrate Your Progress: Recognize and celebrate your achievements along the way, no matter how small they may seem. Whether it's reaching a milestone episode, receiving positive reviews, or connecting with listeners, take pride in how far you've come on your podcasting journey.

By taking these action steps and embracing the challenges of podcasting, you'll not only grow stronger as a content creator but also enrich the lives of your audience with your unique perspective and insights. So, what are you waiting for? Start your podcasting journey today and let your voice be heard!

A Great Way to Grow Your Podcast Audience and Get More Listeners Today By Doing This Now

The Daily Dave - Podcasting Tips - A Great Way to Grow Your Audience, Get More Listeners Today By Doing This Now

Word of Mouth Marketing is amazing for Podcast Growth.

As a solo-podcaster, how can you quickly add listeners to your show? Like, real, human beings that listen to your show? Not a paid bot that hits your podcast and it counts as a listen! A Real Person!? Add some interviews to your solo podcasts! Why? Because when a guest comes on your show, they are a potenial listener for your show!

If you have an interview show, do you consider your guests to be potential long-term listeners and not just a passing guest interview? If you view every guest as a possible listener, and you do more interviews, you can turn a guest into a listener by treating them well!

Want to grow your show today? Have a guest, Be a guest and treat each guest as a listener - not just as a guest!

EPISODE 244 - CO-HOST - JJ Holley - Creating a ripple with your podcast, Be Your own hero, a big scary goal for my podcast

    Vision
I want to inspire those ready to help make a positive ripple in their own life, so that they may create positive ripples in their world. By operating a business that enhances the community it’s in, that gives more than it receives. Additionally, I vow to help one homeless family a year, to help themselves off the street and assistance, by giving them the tools and the proper assistance needed.

Doors to open for profit to the community, September 15, 2024. Until then, every event held at Ripple Retreat is free to host as long as 100% of the proceeds go to charity.

    Mission
To create positive Ripples in the world, by providing you the space for your event. Leading by example, of what it means to help your neighbor starting right here at 186R Main Street, West Paris, Maine. Moreover, every event held at Ripple Retreat will create a positive Ripple in someone’s life…a butterfly effect. When you entrust Ripple Retreat to inspire your conscious growth, you entrust yourself to let go and grow, enhancing lives of others in the process:

    A Charity of Your Choice
    The Town of West Paris
    The Pink Feather Foundation

How? Open For Profit Ripple Retreat vows to give 75% of all that profit to those mentioned and of that, 25% goes to a charity of your choice. Ripple Retreat also vows to help one homeless family help themselves off the street a year.

Question of the Month - May 2024 - Do You Read the Episode Show Notes When Listening To A Podcast

We had a great response for our April Question of the Month, so, we are releasing our question of the Month for May 2024.

Have your say and share your answer via our HowToPodcast.ca SpeakPipe link.

Here is the question: "Do you read the episode show notes when you listen to a podcast?" This is not the blog post that accompanies a podcast that some podcasters include on their website - this is the podcast episode show notes (what you are reading right now!)

Your audio answers will be compiled with other podcasters and released at the end of the month!

E243 - Moving Your Podcast to a New Podcast Host - 4 things to consider when it is time to move

E243 - Moving Your Podcast to a New Podcast Host - 4 things to consider when it is time to move

Episode 243 - Moving Your Podcast to a New Podcast Host - 4 things to consider when it is time to move

I recently moved my Podcast Editing and Support Show from Spotify for Podcasters to Captivate.fm

I fell in love with what Captivate.fm has done to build the podcasting community and I wanted to participate and support the great things that they do there - we we moved our show.

When you move your podcast from one hosting site to another site ther are 4 things that I would like you to keep in mind to make the transition go smoothly.

    (1) Be sure to not kill your current feed too early. Keep your hosting site active during the transition to ensure that your podcast is fully operational before you cancel your past podcast host.

    (2) During the transition, stop posting your upcoming episodes to your old feed. Give yourself a gap between hosts by not posting upcoming episodes to your former hosting site.

    (3) Collect all your old feed stats and data from your old host before closing your hosting site down. Grab screen shots, download the "CSV Files" so that you have the history of your podcast including listener stats, episode stats, everything possible.

    (4) Once you have set up your new hosting site and redirected your RSS Feed to the new home for your podcast, post your newest podcast episode on your new host. When this new episode goes live, use Pod.Link to see if your newest episode sits at the top of the list as a new release - you can also click through the listening apps to see if your new episode, posted to your new hosting site appears. If so, you have been successful. From this point only post new episodes to your new hosting site

    http://pod.link/

Bonus tip: If you have previously connected your podcast to YouTube via the RSS Ingestion process, watch to see that your newest episode released via your new host also appears on YouTube. Captivate.fm had to do some digging to ensure that this connection was infact still active with the switch. If you don't see your newest episode appearing on YouTube as it did prior to moving your hosting site - reach out to the support team on your new hosting site to look into it for you.

If you are looking for a hosting site to start your show or move your show, check out Captivate.fm

We are proud affiliates of Captivate.fm, our recommendations are based on our knowledge and experience with them and their services - using this link will earn us a commission at no extra cost to you

Love this episode 214

Always learn so much from you!, Dave, thank you for the shout out that was really really cool. I truly enjoyed it. I guess I got my Fridays mixed up. I thought it was today that you wanted to work on my website and so forth but I need to ask you about another question I don’t think I’m on the right website as I want some PDFs and show them on my website as the show notes of each show. Kind of like a way for people that they could want they could download it it would be they could read but they couldn’t alter that being said I haven’t found that I could make that work on cover or maybe I can and I need some help there. Otherwise I’m gonna cancel it and go someplace else and then I need a place to go if you have some ideas, so as usual I love your show and I look forward to your next one. I finally hit the last one. I can’t wait for your next episode. Thanks Dave for all you do.
