The Lamp-post Listener is a podcast where two friends travel further up and further into classic works of children’s literature - from the woods of Narnia to the mountains of Middle-earth. Each episode chronicles the narratives, themes, and truth found in these timeless tales with C.S. Lewis as a Virgil-like guide. Phil and Daniel are currently reading Lewis' essays on stories.

The Medieval Mind of Lewis with Dr. Jason Baxter
Dr. Jason Baxter discusses how Great Books influenced the mind of Lewis.
Dr. Baxter teachers Great Books at the University of Notre Dame. He writes on the relevance of medieval thought and literature, and, especially, medieval theology and Dante. In his popular writing and lectures, he talks about the arts, travel and literature, technology and humanism, science and culture, and modernity in light of the ancient world. He is the author of numerous books, including An Introduction to Christian Mysticism, The Infinite Beauty of the World: Dante's Encyclopedia and the Names of God, Falling Inward: Humanities in the Age of Technology, A Beginner’s Guide to Dante’s Divine Comedy, and, most recently, The Medieval Mind of CS Lewis: How Great Books Shaped a Great Mind.

Customer Reviews
Everyone should listen to this!
I stumbled upon this podcast when I was trying to find something that would help me understand the parallels of the Narnia books with the gospel. This podcast far exceeded my expectations! I recommend it to all of my friends!
Enneagram folly
I was so enjoying this podcast until the fascination with the enneagram came up. For self proclaiming Christians to promote a “New Age” practice destroys all credibility and ultimately can lead astray those looking for truth in a web of deceit. Please listen to the Cultish Podcasts episode on the enneagram to understand it’s dark past which is leading far to many Christians away from God's calling in our lives. I was hoping to finish all seven books, but I can’t support you anymore.
Best podcast!
Not to brag on y’all, but this is the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Love your jokes, insights, commentary, and ideas that spill through each chapter in every episode. Thank you for all your hard work! So excited for new episodes, no matter the content or topic!
