Federal reporting requirements?!
19/10/2023
Great episode and interview with Activist and Chairman Larry Hamm! I too agreed that we need federal reporting requirements for deaths and custody and police brutality and like he mentioned if you’re not able to produce that then you will start receiving funding. But how do you approach that situation when the federal government doesn’t want that data/reports because they could have made that requirement decades ago, but they still have it? If the federal government (congress) refuses to get involved by making a change to current reporting policy what is the solution? Is the only solution is to hope that we get a president that will sign an executive order for the reporting of deaths in custody/police brutality?

Super interesting reflections on the friction and synergies between advocacy and science. Particularly illuminating to hear about the model of physician as advocate after death - gave me a whole new perspective on the roles and responsibilities we often take for granted.
Insightful and provocative

Really enjoyed the conversation between these two authors who bring informed and personal connections to their shared work. It includes both song, poetry and stories of both present day and generations past to inform the dialogue on deaths in custody. They unpack very difficult to hear realities in a way that draws the listener in. Kudos on this essential work.
