Anthony Johnson Interview | Getting Started In Enduro Racing | WannaBes Mobcast | Podcast Ep: 2

Check out our line of enduro, MX, MTB, and ADV helmet specific chin mounts for actions cameras! - https://wannabes.life/ In our second episode of the WannaBes Mobcast we talk to Anthony Johnson, the up and coming EnduroCross racer who is making a name for himself not only on the track but also on social media as well.    Check out Anthony Johnson on Instagram here. https://www.instagram.com/anthonyjohnson_521/ In our first episode we got to hear from Graham Jarvis who we all know is one of the greatest riders of all time. For this episode we decided to go to the other end of the spectrum and learn form someone who is just starting out his enduro racing career. Anthony Johnson is 19 years old and lives in Northern Idaho where he trains to take the podium.    We talked to Anthony about how he got started and what sparked his interest in EnduroCross, his training routine, riding in Idaho, cross training, and enduro techniques that were very insightful for anyone who rides. Among many other interesting things about Anthony, he rides a Sherco 300 which of course we had to know more about that as well as how he sets up his bike. Living in an area where we don't see many Sherco's, we found it very interesting to learn about the bikes form someone who has a lot of seat time on one.    We finished the podcast by talking a bit about how Anthony intends to make a career out of being a professional athlete, not only through the traditional means of sponsorship but also thought the use of social channels and other methods. Lastly we had a few bonus questions that lead to a great story and a good laugh that you'll have to watch the episode to hear about :) Credits: Studio productions by Seth https://www.instagram.com/seth.orsomething/ Video editing by Nikola Popovic: https://www.instagram.com/goteki_audio_video/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjwxp4vUUnAW4lLrbClFvgg

Checkout our lineup of action camera chin mounts for off-road helmets - https://wannabes.life/ Check out Graham's website for the Jarvis Signature Tours, Jarvis Race Team, and Jarvis Race Gear. https://www.grahamjarvis.org  Also check out the Graham Jarvis Academy as soon as it is available for great training videos to improve your technique.    WannaBes MobCast Episode 1 Show Notes:  It's official, the WannaBes have a podcast! To get things started, we go big, all the way to top of Enduro riding with our first guest - Graham Jarvis.   For most enduro riders, G-Force Jarvis doesn't need much introduction. But we'll give ours anyway and then let the man himself explain how he describes his career.    We kick off our conversation with the Silent Assassin by chatting a bit about his recent knee injury, how it happened, and where it's left him these last few weeks. Graham Jarvis shows his competitive side, and gives us a sense for why he's held the top spot in Enduro competition for so long.   From there, we get into technique (use your clutch more he tells us), fitness routines (workout your way, just stay fit), how to stay hydrated on the bike, and why Jarvis crushed his own shed :). Jarvis tells us his take on staying in the game in your 40s and gives us a few hints about how to keep our heads in the race even when we're DONE (spoiler - you have to want it more!).    As business owners in the Enduro space, we were of course interested in the Graham Jarvis empire (as we call it) and we spend some time exploring his many business ventures from his world-class tour franchise to his signature race gear and of course, his 1 million Instagram followers. We ask Jarvis about his business plans for the near future, and encourage a class right here in CA (after COVID perhaps...).    We wrap our conversation with audience questions, shotgun style (message us if you want your question featured on our next show).    And that's a show folks!! Tune in each month for a new guest, and join us on our journey to learn the deepest secrets of Enduro magic ;) Credits: Studio productions by Seth https://www.instagram.com/seth.orsomething/ Video editing by Nikola Popovic: https://www.instagram.com/goteki_audio_video/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjwxp4vUUnAW4lLrbClFvgg

CleverLever Interview | 50% Lighter Clutch + Much More | WannaBes Mobcast | Podcast Episode 15

Check out our line of motorcycle helmet chin mounts here -https://wannabes.life Check out the Clever Lever on the Midwest Mountain Engineering website here - https://www.midwestme.com/find-your-lever/midwest-moutain-engineering/find-the-right-lever  Today on the WannaBes Mobcast we are going to be talking about a hidden gem of a product called the Clever Lever from Midwest Mountain Engineering and we are bringing on none other than the engineer and designer of this great product, Steve Pohl. We got to learn about how Steve got the idea for the Clever Lever which of course had its roots in a broken bike story. Over the course of the last fourteen years, the Clever Lever has grown to cover a wide range of European bikes like KTM, Husqvarna, GasGas, Sherco, Beta, Husaberg, TM, and a few others. If you don't already know, the Clever Lever is a clutch lever that reduces the amount of force required to pull in the clutch lever by fifty percent thereby reducing fatigue and arm pump. This allows you to ride harder for longer and get the most out of your dirt bike. The Clever Lever also allows you to take advantage of the full length of the clutch pull stroke.  This means that you have to fully pull the clutch lever in to take the clutch plates from fully engaged to fully disengaged. This effectively increases the clutch contact patch throughout the length of the clutch pull which allows you to modulate the clutch better and apply the right about of power to the ground without losing traction. What is nice about the force reduction is that you only need to use one finger in order to modulate the clutch which means that you can have a shorter lever and more fingers wrapped around the handlebars for better control. If you are picky about the ergonomics and the look and feel of your controls, Midwest Mountain Engineering also sells a matching brake lever as well. One important thing that we talk about is how to install and tune the Clever Lever so that you are getting the most out of this great product.  As a product that lets you finely tune the adjustment, it is important to set the clutch lever up right. Otherwise, you may find that your clutch plates either won't fully engage or disengage. Included in your purchase are a very detailed set of installation instructions and Steves stresses how important it is to follow those instructions fully so that you don't end up frying a clutch. The best part is that Steve is there to help if you can't quite figure out how it works and he backs up the Clever Lever with a satisfaction guarantee. What we love about the Clever Lever is that it's not only a great product but it is as grassroots as you can get. Steve saw a solution to a problem and he solved it. That shows in the fact that Midwest Mountain Engineering has grown by word of mount from its inception and continues to grow on the basis of a great product.   Credits:   Studio productions by Seth  https://www.instagram.com/seth.orsomething/   Video editing by Nikola Popovic:  https://www.instagram.com/goteki_audio_video/  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjwxp4vUUnAW4lLrbClFvgg

Rich Larsen Interview | Hard Enduro Skills and Techniques | WannaBes Mobcast | Podcast Episode 14

Check out our line of motorcycle helmet chin mounts for GoPro and other action cameras here - https://wannabes.life/search  Follow Rich Larsen on Instagram here  - https://www.instagram.com/richlarsen511/  Also check out the  @IRCTireUSAMoto  Channel where Rich posts all of his training videos.   In todays episode of the WannaBes Mobcast we are talking with Rich Larsen, the IRC Tire Guy and enduro training coach about how to improve your riding skills and techniques to help make you a better rider. Rich has a wealth of knowledge and experience that he brings into this conversation having trained thousands of riders from professional racers to weekend warriors. We talked with Rich about the basics of riding and techniques that you need to master as the building blocks that will help you take on larger obstacles. As with his own channels and the videos that Rich produces for the @IRCTireUSAMoto  channel, Rich gave us all the details and tricks that he uses with his students when he is training them. Of course, this is no substitute for actually going through a training program with Rich but it is a great start to help you know what to practice and why. We talked about Rich’s background and experience in racing and how he got into training other riders. We then talked about techniques ranging from static balance, body position, throttle and clutch controle, braking, and more complex skills like the double blip. In that we also covered a lot of mistakes that most riders make in all of these techniques and how to help correct those errors. We also cover bike set up and a few things you can do to help improve your riding experience. It won’t come as any surprise that for Rich Larsen “technique trumps all”. With that being said he did have some great advice for tire selection, gearing, sag settings and so on that you need to get right so that you are staring from a solid platform. If you are based in the Utah area we would definitely recommend that you take a class with Rich where you will learn fist hand not only how good a rider but also teacher he is.   Credits:  Studio productions by Seth https://www.instagram.com/seth.orsomething/ Video editing by Nikola Popovic:  https://www.instagram.com/goteki_audio_video/  https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCjwxp4vUUnAW4lLrbClFvgg

SmartCarb Interview | Is Carbureted Better Than TPI and TBI | WannaBes Mobcast | Podcast Episode 13

Check out our line of enduro helmet chin mounts here - https://wannabes.life/collections/all  Check out the SmartCarb here - https://smartcarbfuelsystems.com  There's a lot of talk about what the best method to fuel your two stroke dirt bike is. You may think that the natural progression is for all combustion engines to move toward fuel injection but then why is KTM reverting back to throttle body injection? In this episode of the WannaBes Mobcast we talk with Corey Dyess from SmartCarb to explore this topic and learn more about what the future of fueling systems might look like for two stroke and four stroke motorcycles. Admittadly my intuition going into this conversation was that carburetors were a thing of the past but after talking to Corey about what the SmartCarb can offer, I can now say I definately think different. This comes in two parts since one of our bikes, a 2006 KTM 300 xcw, is running the SmartCarb and we have had nothing but great experiences with it. Not only do you not have to worry about jetting your bike for elevation but the carb doesn't flood, or leak when you tip over. You also get more overall power out of the bike due to the finer fuel attomization and there are no flat spots in the power ban because the SmartCarb doesn't have jets. If all of this sounds interesting to you than you should watch this full episode. Corey dives into detail about the technical aspects of the SmartCarb and how if functions so hang on to your asses because this conversation will blow you away.
