Mike compared to Eric’s versions… so far
22 de set.
I started listening to Mike doing this maybe 16-20 months ago. I listened to quite a few & was definitely moved by them. Tho’ I knew it unlikely I‘d ever be in a situation to offer any help by way of tips or solutions. True crime podcasts seldom focus in my geographical area, for one. And I’ve never lived in a high crime area — in those minor ways at least I’ve been lucky. Listening to the trauma of the real life people in this podcast has been a gift to me as much as a challenge. So I did have to stop listening for a while — 6-9 months maybe. And I suppose that gave me compassion rather than judgment for Mike’s vocal presence — along with HATING the sound of my own voice at first it was answering machines back in the day, then moved onto voicemails, etc. — Any place where I could actually hear the 8/10 year old girl sounding voice that came back at me even when I was 20, 35, 40-something, etc… until for some reason it just changed in my 50’s…. I certainly hope no one would spout the kind of vitriol at me that people seem SO COMFORT-ABLY to do in negative reviews about Mike’s VOICE as if he could just alter some key element in his voice to suddenly & miraculously make it pleasant to all his detractors all at once for this imaginary next episode. I say this because I don’t believe saying you don’t like a personal trait about someone is “fair game” when writing a review. If your opinion/judgment can’t be supported by facts found in the substance of matter. Your opinion or judgment is no more than Hot Air. It has nothing to hold it up! It is only BLUSTER and nothing more than unsubstantiated opinion. The question then becomes are you wise enough on the subject that your opinion should be considered … significant or important OR merely irrelevant? I have been a supporter of Eric Carter-Landin. And I’ll admit I liked his personality probably before I got fully emotionally invested in True Consequences. About the time I did get fully caught up with ALL his episodes on that podcast it was just after he got the TERRIBLE news that the Law WAS BLOWING OFF HIS MOM & HIM AGAIN over the MURDER OF HIS LITTLE BROTHER. And since then even tho’ I’m a PAYING supporter NOT ONE NEW EPI-SODE’s been released since then! ☹️🤬 But he might’ve made a 2/3 minute Trailer saying I’m stopping/pausing True Conse-quences now; so come on check out where I’ve landed: Murder In My Family…. In fact, I was rather shocked it wasn’t done as a courtesy to his devoted Listeners. Finally it does *seem* like there *may* be some valid points for criticism about the show turning to a NM bent & away from a full US scope. I haven’t gone back & counted NM episodes vs non-NM episodes since he’s taken over. But it WOULD BE A TRAGEDY in IT’S own rite.

I thought your coverages was really really good. It’s hard to get someone to cover Louisiana case. i’ve never heard of you before and I started listening because I knew you were going to cover this and I gave you four stars. thank you so much for giving all these people a voice. I’ve gotten feedback from some of my friends of sharing they think the same.

I respect Eric Carter-Landin, experienced tragically something I can’t … gets this sad story out, but I hope you are reading and not turning this into another of your other cases from your other platform. I listen in hopes , but this platform was to reach broader platforms, hope they can help, we can help, if you limit this platform you are ruining this podcast and will loose people that listen. If you only care about NM cases, and change focus, you will change your listeners back to your original base. You will loose broad spectrum listeners, we already heard about things we can’t have no info…. NO HELP! I doubt I will ever have help or a lead.. If I did and never heard back, still good! You only cover NM, you are going to loose a listening audience. Duplicating another podcast.

To tell a true story, guests of the podcasts must be truthful re: their loved ones’ past as that could reveal more information. Why did Zachariah Shorty’s mother conveniently neglected to mention her son’s past arrests for purchases of controlled substances on THREE separate occasions? In one instance, Shorty’s OWN FATHER was involved in driving Shorty to purchase the controlled substances. Yes, everyone deserves justice and let’s also be more honest with ourselves, especially when we’re telling our stories to the world.
