The New Witches

Your story about the giant dog reminded me of something that happened in my childhood. Now to preface we did have a dog at the time but he was an Australian Shepherd and he was an outside dog mainly but when it got cold he came inside. We had a porch like area that had 3 doors. One lead outside, one lead to a set of stairs leading to the basement. And the other had 3 stairs leading to the fridge and then through a door into the main house. The main house door was always shut and locked at night. So one night I was having trouble sleeping and since my dad was away at the time I went and slept with my mum. I had just crawled into bed and was about to fall asleep now that I felt safe when I heard rustling from about my head (we were sleeping at the foot of the bed so it was easier for my mum to take care of my sister as she was a newborn at the time) my brother was still asleep on the bottom bunk of the room we shared I was 7 he was 5. Well I remember looking up and seeing a giant wolf like dog with its teeth barred standing in the door way creeping towards me growling ominously. I became instantly frozen in fear. By the time I was able to move it was hovering over me about to strike the enter coming from it was terrifying. I quickly snapped out of it and threw the blanket over my head I shut my eyes waiting for it to attack while begging it to go away. I waited 3 minutes before I peeked out from under the blanket but it was gone so I woke my mum and she ran around the house like a mad woman trying to find this dog but came up empty handed and said it must have been my imagination. It took me a long time to be able to fall asleep after that. It’s stuck with me since. That’s not even the only thing I experienced in that house, but it was probably the most terrifying.

I have a very complex background spiritually. There has been very conservative religious beliefs in my family, then switched to very spiritual, to melding of the two and beyond. This podcast has opened me up to a new way of thinking and guided me on my budding journey as a witchling. I’ve started from the beginning and am still working through over the last year. I love the friendship and banter between Maria and Laura and often feel like I’m present for a fun gab sesh with old friends. I stumbled on this podcast a few weeks ago. I listen to it in the car and at work and I’m already on episode 88. The closer I get to the newest episodes the more I feel each episode flows like a private conversation and I find myself making comments and talking to my phone lol. I love love love true crime episodes. listener stories make it feel more like we as listeners are part of the friends circle rather than just an audience and I appreciate that
