Venture Capital in The Dental Industry and How to Get Involved w/ Jeremy Krell of Revere Partners

Venture Capital in The Dental Industry and How to Get Involved w/ Jeremy Krell of Revere Partners

Most of you must have heard about private equity in our industry with the OSO/DSO model. But today, you'll get to hear about venture capital in dentistry and what it's all about.

I am joined by Dr. Jeremy Krell, the co-founder and managing partner at Revere Partners.

He is a general dentist by clinical training with multiple practices in New Jersey, where he is a silent partner but no longer does clinical work.

His strength is in business. He is a dyed-in-the-wool entrepreneur with multiple successful businesses he started and grew to multimillion-dollar buyouts.

He is here to talk about the only independent venture capital fund in the oral health industry.

In a nutshell, Revere Partners identify opportunities for their investors and provides capital to startups in the oral health space.

The capital and guidance help these startups in their early growth stages before they reach a point where they can be acquired. This, in turn, creates a lot of wealth for the investors.

Being a doctor who understands the dentistry industry, Jeremy says that Revere Partners was created by doctors for doctors. The model is much simpler than other VCs to help dentists, orthodontists, and other people in this space who are looking for investment opportunities.

If you are looking for investment opportunities in our industry or just want to learn more, this will excite you.

Make sure to check it out!

Greatest Hits: The ORIGINAL Dr. Krieger

Greatest Hits: The ORIGINAL Dr. Krieger

As most of you probably know, before I went back to school to become an orthodontist, I practiced as a dentist for many years.

The truth is that I was exposed to dentistry when I was just 4 years old in my dad's office – the original Dr. Krieger.

My father, Dr. Allan Krieger, is today's guest.

He has been an inspiration to me my entire life. He has guided me in many ways, allowing me to achieve what I have today. I wouldn't be here in my professional life were it not for him. He taught me much of what I know (and practice) to this day.

I am honored to interview him today to share his wealth of knowledge about dentistry and his experience from serving in the Army Dental Corps to lessons learned in private practice.

I hope you find it just as useful…and fun!

    Let's dive in.
    Key Takeaways
    - Meet the original Dr. Krieger (00:00)

    - The difference in dental training over different generations (05:26)

    - Lessons from serving in the Army Dental Corps (10:25)

    - Dr. Krieger's advice for associateship (13:35)

    - What to look for in a partner (17:37)

    - The power of being in the right place at the right time (23:18)

    - A diamond crown story from back in the day (32:17)

    - Dr. Krieger's advice for orthodontists just starting out (44:02)

How to Grow Through What You Go Through | 5-Minute Friday

How to Grow Through What You Go Through | 5-Minute Friday

What you go through, you grow through.
I'm not a fan of rhymes, alliteration, or silly little sayings, but I heard this quote a while ago, and it really resonated with me.
I started thinking about a number of things that have happened to me, my partner, and our practice in the last year or two. (We’re all aware that life has changed dramatically in many aspects - from employment, technology, and inflation to global issues if you will.)
Almost all of us have been facing huge challenges in business and life in general. And no matter how easy or difficult the times we’re living in are, we always have two choices.
We can complain, moan, and whine about how unfair and wrong the things happening to us are. Or we can be at peace with the things we can’t change and focus on those we can.
This 5-minute Friday episode is about that. Tune in for it, and let’s learn how to look at every thing that happens as an opportunity for us to get stronger and grow.
    Let’s dive in!
    Key Takeaways
    - Intro (00:00)
    - The world has changed dramatically (00:32)
    - Challenges with getting the right people on our team (01:37)
    - Debrief yourself and learn from it (02:58)
    - Summary (05:19)

Are You Doing Things for Yourself or Because They Look Good on Instagram? | 5-Minute Friday

Are You Doing Things for Yourself or Because They Look Good on Instagram? | 5-Minute Friday

Studies have shown over the years that social media has played a huge role in the way people act and what they portray.

And we know that what you see online is not truth. There are not that many amazing parents, houses, kids... They're showing you only the highlights of their lives.

So today, I have a question for you - Why do you do what you do?

I know it sounds like a weird question. But I'm asking this for mental health reasons.

Do you work hard at the practice? Do you spend more time with your kids? Do you post a lot on Facebook? Instagram? TikTok?

Do you really enjoy the things that you do? Or do you just think they would look good on social media?

Tune in for this 5-minute episode and let a guy who grew up at a time before social media share a lesson or two and some experience with you.

    Let’s dive in!

    Key Takeaways
    - Intro (00:00)
    - Why do you do what you do? (00:39)
    - Do you love it, or do you just want accolades? (03:18)
    - Parents posting nothing but their kids on social media (04:33)
    - A lesson from a guy who grew up at a time before social media (05:06)

Excellent

Love Glenn’s podcast. Awesome content and inspiration.

Good but room to improve

Overall a very good podcast but the 10 questions at the end are neither insightful nor necessary. And I'm sorry but Dr. Krieger plugs his Orthopreneurs meeting WAY too much on every episode. They take up at least 1/3 of the "5 Minute Fridays" which is a bit disappointing. I understand he has a meeting to fill but it's just a little much.
