The Oscar Should Have Gone To

My goodness do these two have chemistry. As an Oscar enthusiast who listens to just about everything out there in the podcast universe, these two are a breath of fresh air. From their personal anecdotes as actors to their breezy comments of Best Picture nominees, their sense of humor seems actually tangible to an audial audience. Bravo. Keep it up!

A perfect storm of east coast sarcasm, balanced film criticism, and nostalgic reminisces of old friendships. M + C keep you entertained and informed, whether it’s for 45 min or over 2 hours (which they would admit is a criminal time span). Enjoy!

The sound quality so far is often grating, and I find Meghann to be a little bit abrasive as a personality hosting a podcast. And while they like to wax scholarly about films, I think their tastes are fairly basic. Which is fine, I’m not judging anyone for their tastes. But I do fine myself disagreeing with them often. I actually appreciate that. At any rate, I’ll keep listening. This is a podcast concept that I have wanted to do myself for years, so I’m glad it’s out there.

I have listened to a dozen plus episodes trying to give this show a chance but I finally had to tap out. In addition to sometimes having 10 minutes of inane off-topic chatter before actually getting to the topic at hand, the female host repeatedly drops offensive statements in the most casual way that tells me she isn’t even going for shock value, this is just who she is. The final straw for me was their 1994 episode when she gleefully shared how badly she wished she had been one of Harvey Weinstein’ girls. As if it were some great fun career boost instead of him being a literal rapist who terrorized the industry and ruined dozens and dozens of womens’ careers. Why does she think this is funny??? Why did no one else on that episode push back or even have the good sense to edit it out?? That was the final straw for me but there had been several episodes where she dropped other offensive (and frequently misogynistic) comments. IT ISNT FUNNY
