It’s Fine
“It’s AI-live!” The cadence does seem a little wonky, but it’s entertaining. Thanks for making these
Noble Effort but Ultimately Unlistenable
I was initially excited at the prospect of thousands of classic books available as free audiobooks. AI is improving every day. Unfortunately, the AI used to “read” these books is not up to the task. It took only a few sentences to realize that I could not endure an entire book being read in such a sterile way. The sentences are understandable, but the complete lack of modulation and feeling shows a fundamental misunderstanding of why we love audiobooks. A good reading brings the material to life with inflection, feeling and excitement. None of that exists in this collection. I’ll continue to rely on Librivox and professional audiobooks until they figure out how to “read” these books that is worthy of these great works of literature.
