GeekPack®️: Inside Look Into The Visionary CEO & Marketing Rainmaker Relationship

GeekPack®️: Inside Look Into The Visionary CEO & Marketing Rainmaker Relationship

Today we are exploring the dynamic relationship between a Visionary CEO with a big drive and big goals, and her talented and badass Rainmaker, who also happens to be step-mom and daughter. Tune in as we delve into how this dynamic started.

You'll hear from Julia, the Visionary CEO, as she shares where her vision comes from and why it means so much to her, and from Beth, the Rainmaker, as she explains how she got behind Julia's vision and how the relationship was formed from being step-mom and step-daughter. We explore how Beth learned her skills through grit and hard work and how Julia has helped her grow as a leader.

Along the way, we'll discuss their different personalities and how this dynamic works. We'll also outline the recipe for success between this duo, from not surrounding yourself with 'yes' people and being pushed out of your comfort zone to hiring students who are already bought into the organization's values.

Learn more about my guest, Julia:
Julia has taught over 3,200 women (and some awesome men) to say "YES" to learning tech skills (most of whom never considered themselves techy in their lives)! She is a (former) military wife, self-taught web developer, lover of location independence, and a passionate advocate for women in tech! In the pursuit of her own career and career progression, she taught herself how to code. It was love at first sight and learning this one skill has changed her life in ways that she never thought possible.
Julia is incredibly fortunate to run her multiple 7-figure business from the comfort of her sofa (or wherever in the world she might be)... All because she stumbled upon tech and learned marketable in-demand skills! Empowering women and seeing others succeed is the biggest motivator for Julia. And so, she created a platform to teach others the skills that allowed her to take back control of her life and start living on her own terms.

Learn more about my guest, Beth:
Beth has 7+ years of experience as a marketing and ops lead. In the last 4 years with GeekPack, she has planned and executed 7 major online events, resulting in over $1.4M in revenue. Her innovation and flexibility has built a sustainable ecosystem for marketing and sales, which can ride out any market conditions. Beth is passionate about empowering team members to act within their zone of genius and creates opportunities for growth within individual roles.

Dana Malstaff: What To Do When Your Team Stops Communicating

Dana Malstaff: What To Do When Your Team Stops Communicating

Being a parent impacts the way you lead your business as a Visionary, and today I'm joined by Boss Mom, Dana Malstaff, to discuss what that teaches you. Dana first shares how Boss Mom was created, from being fired and falling pregnant to writing a book that paved the way for the Boss Mom business.

We explore the evolution of her team as Dana shares her first hire, from helping a few hours each week to pitch her on podcasts to now having an expansive team of incredible women who support her growth. Dana shares what she could have done differently with her team from the beginning, from hiring locally and within her community to finding a Rainmaker rather than a Project Manager.

Dana and I discuss project management and communicating with your team on hitting deadlines and completing tasks. Dana shares how she trains her team to prepare them to be open with communication and feedback. She also talks about how one of her team members can call her out in a loving way and how this relationship came to be over time.

    Learn more about my guest:
Dana Malstaff is the Founder of Boss Mom and creator the Nurture to Convert Society. She is a mother, author, speaker, messaging strategist, podcaster, blind spot reducer, and movement maker. She believes that too many brilliant moms are struggling to figure out how to grow their business while balancing all that is required to be a good mom, partner, and woman. So many moms are trying to grow their business using trends that feel inauthentic and aren't realistic for their inconsistent schedules. She has helped thousands of women become known for their brain and not their dance moves.

Dr. Hope: Nailing Entrepreneurship, Failing in Parenting

Dr. Hope: Nailing Entrepreneurship, Failing in Parenting

Today I'm bringing on my parenting coach Dr. Hope to highlight why it feels like I'm nailing entrepreneurship, yet I'm failing at home as a parent. My husband and I often joke about what area is the hardest in our lives, from parenting and entrepreneurship to marriage, and why it feels like every day is groundhog day as parents.

We discuss the common themes, fears, and complaints among powerful entrepreneurs who are navigating parenting. I open up about my fears and feelings around parenting and how I had to relearn creating boundaries with Dr. Hope's guidance. Dr. Hope shares what compassionate curiosity is, what our child behavior means and how to create adults that access their feelings in a safe way.

Dr. Hope Seidel is a mother of two young adults, a pediatrician and business owner, and a private consultant for powerful women and men who find parenting more challenging than their jobs. Heather Chauvin: The #1 Secret To NOT Burning Out My Business, Team, and Self

Heather Chauvin: The #1 Secret To NOT Burning Out My Business, Team, and Self

How we show up as leaders at home and work usually differs, you may be like today's guest Heather, who had a disconnect between being a fantastic leader in her business and feeling like she was failing as a parent. Today's interview explores managing your feelings, energy, and triggers at home and in your business.

Heather shares her journey between wanting to be a good mother and feeling fulfilled in her career. We explore how you might be addicted to stress and adrenaline and the importance of looking for that high outside your business.

We discuss not reacting when you're in your red zone, how Heather operates to ensure her team feels supported even when they mess up, and how she leads by taking ownership of her trigger and the story it's telling her. In this episode, Heather also shares why you should manage your energy, not your time, and her workflow for processing her emotional regulation.

    Learn more about my guest:
Heather Chauvin is a leadership coach who helps ‘successful’ women courageously and authentically live, work, and parent on their own terms. Heather started her career as a social worker helping adults understand children’s behavior. But it wasn’t until 2013 when a stage 4 cancer diagnosis pushed her to take a deeper stand for change, uncovering how cultural expectations sabotage our dreams. She has been featured in Forbes, Entrepreneur, Real Simple Magazine, Mind Body Green, Google, and more. When Heather isn’t working, you will find her living out what she teaches which may include kayaking Alaska, snowboarding, hiking, or anything else that challenges what she believes is possible for herself (and inviting her children along the journey). Life is full of opportunities. It’s time to feel alive.

Emily Reagan: Marketing Rainmakers vs Unicorn Assistants

Emily Reagan: Marketing Rainmakers vs Unicorn Assistants

There are a lot of titles in the industry, and we understand that it can feel overwhelming to know which title and role you need to fill for your business. In today's episode, Emily Reagan explains how she landed on 'Marketing Assistant' as her title as she initially struggled to define how she assisted Visionaries.

We compare the difference between Marketing Rainmakers and Unicorn Assistants and explore the point in your business where you would consider bringing on a Rainmaker to support the Assistant and relieve them of the duties that the Rainmaker should be fulfilling.

Emily shares a typical day for a digital marketing assistant on behalf of an organization. I clarify what a Rainmaker does to help you understand the differences between these two team members. Then, we outline a Frankenstein role and how to avoid creating a role like this in your business by setting your team members up for success and getting the most out of them.

If you need help determining what level of support you need in your business, listen to this interview as we help you identify which team member you need so that you can understand who you might need to hire to help support your marketing growth.

Emily Reagan is a jill-of-all-trades when it comes to digital marketing and techie skills. She’s worked as a behind-the-scenes digital marketing implementer working with many creatives and furniture painters: Jennifer Allwood, Tracey Bellion, Miss Mustard Seed, Wendy Batten, and more, to grow their online businesses. She’s the founder of the Unicorn Digital Marketing Assistant School, where she teaches women the digital marketing skills to get hired online as an in-demand, highly sought-after unicorn digital marketing assistant.
