Gender dysphoria is a very distressing and upsetting mental disorder to those who experience it. It can lead to the same high suicide rates as something like depression because the person has that internalized conflict between their body and their sense of self, which can be incredibly disturbing. Similar to body dysmorphia in the way that the person feels hatred towards their body to the point of wanting to die, using someone’s preferred pronouns could save their life. Respecting those are very important because it’s a literal disorder that is worsened by inconsideration. Hope this helps! Lovely discussion!
