The OC, Again

I’ve never seen an episode of the OC, just have a friend who mentioned 20 years ago that she really loved it. I DO know I love to listen to Alex Steed chat with anyone about anything, and now I know I love to listen to Niko Strati’s talk about her early life, her present life, and her relationship with music. As I plan to escape the next 4 years into a private life of sewing and podcast listening, I’m so happy to have found the perfect folks to keep me company.

Great show, love the conversations about the music and culture of an oh so particular time. However, Nico and Alex desperately need to get the perspective of a parent of a teenager. They are wonderfully empathetic toward the experiences of adolescence, but are absolutely unhinged when it comes to understanding how a parent, fictional or real, might react to kids in crisis clearly struggling to make good decisions or communicate honestly.

I’ve never seen the OC. As an Alex Steed fan, I tuned in feeling confident I could enjoy the podcast without actually watching the show. Luckily I was right. Alex and Nico knock it out of the park and put on a great, engaging show! It’s so engaging…. I’m going to check out the tv show soon ;)
