    12/4/22 - To Climb God's Mountain (Isaiah 2)

The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Isaiah 2, in which the prophet has a vision of the people eager to be taught by God's law. How is such a posture possible for sinners? Only by the unmerited grace, favor, and sacrificial death of our savior, Jesus Christ.

On Christ the King Sunday, the Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Colossians 1, in which Paul describes King Jesus, and Luke 23, in which we see that same king hanging on a cross. Jesus is both the high king of heaven and the king who died to save sinners.

10/23/22 - How Dead Are You? (Luke 18)

The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Luke 18, in which Jesus tells a parable about a Pharisee and a tax collector. The Gospel is not for those who have begun climbing the mountain of faith; it is for those of us in a crumpled heap at the bottom.

10/9/22 - How To Love Your Neighbor (Jeremiah 29)

10/9/22 - How To Love Your Neighbor (Jeremiah 29)

The Rev. Nick Lannon preaches a sermon on Jeremiah 29, in which the people of Israel are called to love and care for Babylon, the people who have taken them into captivity. We are only capable of this kind of love as we remember that we ourselves were loved while we were sinners.

Law and Gospel at its best

Nick Lannon is one of my favorite preachers. To be honest I listen to him mainly when I do not get the gospel on sundays but some version “how to live the Christian life.”

Nick Lannon always uses the law of God to kill us, because as he likes to say God is in the business of raising the dead, not improving our old selves. And he never fails to give us the gospel and how Jesus did for us what we could never do for ourselves. Thank you Nick!

Gospel saturated preaching

I’ve been challenged and encouraged by the preaching of God’s Word by Rev. Nick Lannon. I hope that you will too.
