Show Notes
Join me as Robyn Tiger, MD, tells her how she conquered a plague of stress-related symptoms and became “The Self-Care Doctor” to help others live more full and satisfying lives.
Robyn helps physicians and other clients one-on-one and with online self-directed programs. She also offers free self-care videos on her website, www.stressfreemd.net.
About 15 years ago, Robyn was a busy wife, mother, and practicing radiologist--doing it all. But she suffered abdominal pain, bleeding gums, fatigue, headaches, paresthesias, tinnitus, vertigo, vomiting, and other symptoms. Trips to specialists such as gastroenterologists, neurologists, periodontists, and mental health professionals never produced a diagnosis or clinical improvement.
Finally, she decided to take matters into her own hands and tried a yoga class. The instantaneous stress relief also relieved her medical symptoms. Discovering this mind-body connection led Robyn to spend hundreds of hours training to become certified as a yoga therapist. She spent another three years to become certified in IRest Guided Meditation and more study to become a life coach.
Dr. Tiger points out that excessive stress not only diminishes quality of life but may decrease life expectancy through adverse effects on chromosomal telomeres. According to Dr. Tiger, everyone has a “superpower” that enables them to regain control of their bodies and work towards a state of balance and wellness.
For the last 18 months, Dr. Tiger has focused on helping physicians decrease work-related and other life stress. The fact that three of her physician colleagues died from suicide highlighted the necessity of her important work.
Dr. Tiger offers an initial free consultation, therapy sessions, and a variety of self-study courses. You can contact her through her website: www.stressfreemd.net.
