The Senior Studio Success Podcast with Jena Golden is all about the business of high school senior photography. I've been a photographer for 16 years now and love to teach other senior photographers how to run productive and profitable studios. As a mama to 3 boys I know how difficult it can be raise babies and a business at the same time. Over the years I learned to develop systems and strategies in the studio and at home that built the business of my dreams. I'm on a mission to help you become financially independent doing what you love through simple systems and some business and life hacks thrown in there too. I believe our businesses should fit our lives and not the other way around. If we just became best friends I hope you'll join me back here every week to dive into the business of senior photography. I can't wait to hang out with you!

040: Balancing Business With A 9 To 5 with Brian Botos, a Studio Secrets Case Study

040: Balancing Business With A 9 To 5 with Brian Botos, a Studio Secrets Case Study

I recently sat down for a great conversation, now released on the podcast, with Brian Botos of Botos Photos in Cincinnati, Ohio to talk about running a photography business with a full time job.
Brian started out with one on one business coaching with me and then did a round of Studio Secrets too, my business coaching program for senior photographers.  We worked hard on his messaging and attracting the right client for his fashion and senior business.  Then moved on to pricing and creating portrait collections he believes in and sells like a champ now!
We covered so many topics on this episode of The Senior Studio Success Podcast - valuing your time, balancing kids & a photography career, creating your business to work around a family, and serving your client the best way we can.
We didn’t hold back and had a really open, honest conversation about the state of the industry and how we fit into it.  There may be some things you love and some you may not.  And that’s ok!  More than anything, I hope this conversation challenges you to build the business that YOU want for yourself and your family.

Let’s continue the conversation over in the Senior Studio Success Facebook Group.  I’m always up for a good business chat.  Or you can find me over on Instagram.  Send me a DM there.  Have a great week y’all!

Finding my niche

I just listened to podcasts on finding your niche. I have been doing photography since 2016 and over the last year or so realized that I want to shoot Seniors only. That’s where I am most comfortable and connect with the clients better but it’s a struggle when you are in a area that is saturated with others that do it at such a low rate and offer clients digitals only. I only offer IPS and walking away empty handed not knowing if they will call back or not is so frustrating to later see that they hired someone else.

Avoiding Burnout

Listening to the avoiding burnout episode while experiencing some significant burnout. 😳. I’m a bit concerned as I am just heading into my senior season, but Jenna has some great tips for managing life as mom and business owner. I love the idea, in regards to pricing, that we should expect people to say no - in fact, no’s are often an indicator that we are probably priced appropriately (or close to it). Love this!!! Thanks Jenna - you rock!!

Jena is the best.
