In this episode of the student ambition, we welcome guest speakers Marit Stiles, Ontario's NDP Education Critic and student trustee from the Grand Erie District School Board, Carson Kitchen. They will be discussing the importance of student voice and politics.

The Students’ Ambition series demonstrates the knowledge Student Trustees possess regarding an area of the education system, allowing them to offer advice and initiatives. The goal of this series is to share, learn, integrate, then influence to empower the Student Body to accomplish more and help to change factors of our Education System for the better. For the first episode of this series, we invite OSTA-AECO alumni to share advice about post-secondary pathways students can take to ease fears and uncertainties one may have. This episode is a continuation of the Students’ Discussion on Mental Health. In Part Two, our guests continued to further the conversation of mental health in education by talking about the impacts of pandemic implementations, the importance of extracurriculars, and the presence of mental wellbeing in the school curriculum. We appreciate our guests for joining in on this in-depth conversation.

For this theme of the Students’ Discussion, we invited our guests to discuss mental health in Ontario’s education system. In part one, our guests discussed the prioritization of mental health and mental health resources in education, how teachers & staff value the wellbeing of students, and the impact that the pandemic and e-learning have caused. This episode is a continuation of our discussion concerning the impacts of COVID-19 on our Ontario Education. We discuss the difference between online learning and in-person learning regarding our relationships with our teachers, the pacing of our courses, and the classroom setting. This is the final part for the topic of the Impacts of COVID-19. We appreciate and thank the guests who have joined us in this fruitful discussion.
