#20A - Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: REVIEW SERIES

This week on The Third Reel: A Movie Podcast, we’re jumping back into our Review Series with Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix! As with the previous films—and likely the ones ahead—we’ve split our review into two parts. In Part 1, we’ll break down Act 1, while Part 2 (dropping first thing tomorrow) will cover Acts 2 and 3, followed by our final thoughts and scores. We’re analysing this movie act by act, scene by scene, and rating it on a scale of 1 to 10. Order of the Phoenix marks the debut of David Yates, who would go on to direct every remaining film in the series. It’s also widely recognised for Daniel Radcliffe’s strongest performance yet—and, of course, that unforgettable duel between Dumbledore and Voldemort. Tune in as we discuss, critique, and rank this chapter in the Wizarding World! FULL SPOILERS FOR HARRY POTTER AND THE ORDER OF THE PHOENIX IN THIS EPISODE. You have been warned. If you have any things you want to discuss about this film or Harry Potter in general, email us at thirdreelpod@gmail.com or through X/Twitter or Instagram @third_reel_pod https://linktr.ee/thirdreelpod All music used in this podcast is for commentary and review purposes under fair use. #18 - Mark Ruffalo Draft

“That’s my secret, Cap: I’m always angry”—especially when we play the Draft. Following our hit Emma Stone and Christmas editions, we’re diving back into the game that pushes The Third Reel’s competitive spirit (and friendships) to the limit—this time, it’s the Mark Ruffalo Draft. If you’re familiar with fantasy football, you’ll know the drill. Each of us takes turns selecting movies from Mark Ruffalo’s entire filmography, filling out six distinct categories. Once a category is locked in, it’s final for that player, and that movie is off the board for everyone else. The draft order? Determined by the legendary “Wheel of Names.” And since we’re running a snake draft, everyone gets a fair shot at the best picks. Last time, Daniel took the crown in the Emma Stone draft—can he defend his title, or will Rachael or Dale snatch it away? Only one way to find out: listen, vote, and let the best Ruffalo roster win! The Categories: 🎭 Starring 🎭 Supporting 🎭 Drama 😂 Comedy 🟢 Marvel (MCU) 🏹 🎬 Free Pick We’ll be posting our full picks on social media, where you can cast your votes to decide the ultimate Mark Ruffalo Draft champion. And to top it all off, we’ve got a fun, Ruffalo-themed bonus game for you to play along with—so stick around till the end! Who won? We want to know! #16 - Top 10 of 2011

2011 was the year we started university, and it was also the year we met Rachael! One might say, it marked the unofficial birth of The Third Reel: A Movie Podcast... though it would take many more years before it truly came to life. As we look back on another sentimental year, we're diving into a Top 10 ranking of the best films from that time. Initially, we thought 2011 offered a rather modest selection of films, but as we dug deeper, we were pleasantly surprised by just how many hidden gems it held. Here’s how it works: we each take turns counting down from #10 to #1. If two (or more) of us have the same film on our lists, we’ll hold off discussing it until it appears at its highest placement. That way, we can give it the spotlight it deserves. Once the lists are complete, we will rattle off our honourable mentions. Let us know your 2011 rankings!
