Season 2 - Episode 16 - Ken Nienke On success, personal and organization growth, relationships
Welcome back Uncommon Leader Podcast nation! I have got another fantastic guest for you this week. His name is Ken Nienke, former Lead Pastor at Fellowship Community Church in Salem, VA. The theme of this podcast is organization and personal growth. While Ken’s experience was in ministry, growing Fellowship from a small church that started in a basement with 69 people to a thriving three-campus church with over 1500 regular attendees is a leadership story that transcends industries. What I see almost as impressive as the exponential growth was that Ken has stayed on at Fellowship for over 20 years now!
In this episode Ken and I discuss:
the value of mentors in his lifethat problems are sometimes the greatest opportunity for successin personal development, it's not always willpower, but it is God's powerWant to know the secret to a long marriage? Listen in!"It's not about success... It's about succession!"

Season 2 - Episode 11 Chris Gallagher - The Coffee Bean - A Lesson to Create Positive Change
Hey Uncommon leaders, welcome back! I have a very, very special and lovely guest to introduce to you today. I have known her for 30+ years and she has had a VERY positive influence on my life. Today, I interview my wife, Chris Gallagher! While there are many topics we could discuss, on this episode we chat about a book we both recently read, The Coffee Bean – A Simple Lesson to Create Positive Change, written by Damon West and Jon Gordon. I came across this book after listening to a recent interview with Damon West on the Ed Mylett podcast… THAT was impactful. Be sure stick around to the end of the podcast. I would love to share a copy of the book with some listeners and I will let you know how to get a copy.
There is no doubt that the story of the Coffee Bean had an impact on Chris and me. We both know that it will you as well. Let’s summarize the spirit of the Coffee Bean:
o Life is difficult. It can be harsh, stressful, and feel like a pot of boiling water. The environments we find ourselves in can change, weaken, or harden us, and test who we truly are. WE have a choice…
o We can be like the carrot that softens or weakens in the pot
o We be like the egg that hardens
o OR, we can be like the coffee bean and discover the power inside ourselves to transform our environment!
I know which one I want to be and I am pretty sure you can tell by her story that Chris wants to be a Coffee Bean, too!

Podcast with Dave Campbell
What a great conversation. Dave hits it on the head…personal growth, small sacrifices to grow yourself and how to bring that to your team. I love the idea of the “team book club”. Great Podcast John Gallagher.
