Ep. 88 - Almunis | Alejandra Ortiz - Embodied Voice, Vibration, & Medicine

Hey everybody! Episode 88 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Almunis (Alejandra Ortiz). She had been highly recommended to me by a good friend and then recently someone who was dieting with Merav and myself also highly recommended her. Almunis was also doing a retreat right next door and so it seemed serendipitous. Almunis is a Colombian teacher who works with the voice. We had a really fascinating conversation about the power of the voice, how it can be opened and truly found, its healing effects, the power of the word, and we touched a bit on plant medicines as well, especially as the voice and song are often an integral part of many traditions. I really enjoyed this conversation and Almunis really has a beautiful presence and wisdom that she shares from her own journey and work with others. It was a pleasure for me to sit down with her and I hope one day to sit down with her again and learn more from her. I trust you all will find this episode illuminating. Ep. 87 - Persia Garland Moen - Plant Medicines, Prophecies, Awareness, & the Heart

Hey everybody! Episode 87 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Persia Garland Moen. Persia and I have a few mutual friends and we had been meaning to speak for a while so it was nice to finally sit down and have her share. Persia’s journey began in childhood and she has led a very interesting life and has studied many paths. In this episode, we spoke about her background, Tibetan Buddhism, shamanism, ayahuasca, her time with the Qeros of the Peruvian Andes, opening the heart and awareness and the journey that entails. We went about three hours talking and I think you all will learn from Persia’s wisdom and experience, much as did I. Ep. 86 - José López Sánchez - Ayahuasca, Shipibos, & Master Plant Dietas

Ep. 86 - José López Sánchez - Ayahuasca, Shipibos, & Master Plant Dietas

Hey everybody! Episode 86 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with José López Sánchez. I have known José for a number of years since we both met working together at the Amazonian plant-medicine center the Temple of the Way of Light. I have worked extensively with his sisters and mother as well, Lila, Laura, and Ynes, who I also interviewed in previous episodes (see episodes 56 and 6). José is a highly-skilled and powerful Shipibo curandero, a doctor working with a traditional plant and energetic way of healing. He comes from a long line and family of healers and has been studying and working with plant medicines for a few decades now. In this episode, we talked about a number of subjects including his story, the Shipibos, ayahuasca, cosmovisions, and the importance of master plant dietas. José is quite special in that he has a mastery of both the Shipibo language as well as Spanish, and has worked with many Shipibos, mestizos, and foreigners. This ability to communicate this world of plant medicine and a knowledge of how different archetypal minds think is very unique and allows him to express sometimes esoteric or complex ideas in a language that a general public can easily understand and process. So I’m sure you all will learn a lot from José. Thank you to my friend Anne-Laure Vincke for the translation. The video version of the interview has subtitles while the audio version has English translation. Maestro José is the driving force of our center. He is the son of the legendary Shipibo Onaya (master plant-spirit healer) Maestra Ynes Sànchez Gonzales and  Maestro David Lopèz and a lineage of powerful and well-respected healers dating back hundreds of years.
Having apprenticed extensively first under his paternal grandfather, a Meraya (highest level Shipibo healer), then his uncle and his mother, since the age of seven years old, he received the wisdom of his ancestors, the Shipibo-Conibo cosmovision and sophisticated practices of Shipibo plant-spirit healing.
He honorably bridges the modern world to traditional Amazonian medicine and has been healin

Ep. 85 - Anne-Laure Vincke - Ayahuasca, The Dieta, & The Medicine Path

Hey everybody! Episode 85 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with my new friend Anne-Laure Vincke. Anne-Laure has been involved in the medicine path for many years and I recently met her while she was working at the Shipibo diet and ayahuasca center, Shipibo Rao, José Lopez’s center. It was a pleasure for me to sit down and speak with her and she has a deep experiential knowledge of having worked with a number of different medicines and traditions. We spoke about her history, her work with the Red Path, her time in Ecuador working with Wachuma, and her time working and living in the jungle with plant dietas and working with ayahuasca. She has a beautiful and humble presence about her and is able to share from personal experience the wisdom she has gained and I think you all will get a lot out of this episode. Ep. 83 - Stephano Gutierrez Manrique - Wilca, Andean Cosmovision, & Ancestral Knowing

Ep. 83 - Stephano Gutierrez Manrique - Wilca, Andean Cosmovision, & Ancestral Knowing

Hey everybody! Episode 84 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with my friend Stephano Gutierrez Manrique. I met Stephano a couple of years ago as we both practice Brazilian Jiu-jitsu in the Sacred Valley of Peru where he lives and works. Stephano works with plant medicines, especially Wuachuma, Wilca, and DMT. He also has a very good knowledge of the Andean cosmovision and we had a really interesting conversation about plant medicines, Qero, and ancestral knowledge, and even touched on ancient civilizations. Stephano has a lot to share and I learned from this conversation and I think and hope you all will as well. Stephano was born and raised in Lima, Peru. Strongly pulled towards a quieter lifestyle, he left his career of Flair Bartender and management of hotels decided to change his life to live within the communities of the Sacred Valley of the Incas in order to seek his purpose in life. From his all journey since 2013, Stephano does not stop learning from the living knowledge that the indigenous people of the High Andean communities of  Cusco saves for those who earn their trust, Stephano learned from them an important ancient law called “Ayni” in Quechua the reciprocity, because thanks to the help to all the teachings that the Andean people of Cusco  and  “Pachamama” (Mother earth) gave him, Andean Encounters was founded to ascribe them back everything that the Andean people of Cusco did for him, thanks to it, Stephano found his purpose and he feels like a living entity son of Pachamama (Mother Earth) to be able to offer his most sacred secrets from the origins of Qosqo and its cosmogony so he can share it with the rest of the world.

Ep. 83 - Alonso Del Rio - Ayahuasca, Ancestral Wisdom, & The Human Being

Hey everybody! Episode 83 of the show is out. In this episode, I spoke with Alonso del Rio. I had heard about Alonso for a number of years and two of my friends spoke very highly of him. Alonso is an ayahuasquero who lives and works in the Sacred Valley of Peru and has a medicine center, Ayahuasca Ayllu. He also wrote a very good book called Tawantinsuyo 5.0. I knew Alonso had a lot of wisdom to share and this interview lived up to my hope. Alonso has been immersed in this work for over forty years and is one of the first people I know to have worked with the Shipibo people. That experience and wisdom are evident when Alonso speaks, being able to bridge the world of plants to the daily world and to be able to bridge many concepts into ideas that are easy to understand. To me, this is a sign of wisdom and it was a pleasure and honor to have Alonso share in this deep conversation. Thank you to my friend Bruno Morey for the translation. The video version of the interview has subtitles while the audio version has English translation.
