The Value Perspective with Adam Rozencwajg

Our guest this week, on the Value Perspective is Adam Rozecwajg, a deep value investor with a specialised focus on the materials and commodities industry. Together with his partner, Adam co-founded Goehring and Rozencwajg, a firm dedicated exclusively to investing in natural resources. Commodities are perhaps the best example of the capital cycle theory, and Goehring and Rozencwajg’s investment process reflects this perfectly. They are a fundamental research firm focused exclusively on contrarian natural resource investments. Their team has over 49 years of combined experience and produces top quality differentiated research, analysing both commodities at a macro level and individual securities. Returning guest Django Davidson from Hosking Partners joins us to the co-host the episode, in which we discuss: Goehring and Rozencwajg’s deep value approach to materials and commodities; investing through the lens of real option value; how Goehring and Rozencwajg incorporates probabilistic thinking into their Bayesian framework; the role of promotional demand dialogues; and the importance of commodities in the era of the EV. The Value Perspective with Khaled Said

This week, in an Allocator’s Edge episode of the Value Perspective, we’re delighted to be joined by Khaled Said, one of the founders of Capital Generation Partners, also known as CapGen. CapGen specialises in managing large pools of capital for families, endowments and individuals, helping clients build portfolios that not only protect wealth but also put it into productive use through diverse and dynamic strategies. Khaled bring a unique perspective as the ‘voice of the client’ to CapGen, advocating for the standards that he believes clients deserve. With experience managing his own family’s wealth, he has a deep understanding of the challenges families face when navigating the investment management industry. Khaled’s principled approach ensures that client portfolios are managed by people who think like principals and not like agents. His background includes strategy consulting at Bain & Company where he specialised in private equity. He has a degree in Law from Oxford University, a Masters in History from Harvard and an MBA (Dean’s List) from INSEAD. If CapGen sounds familiar, you may recall that another CapGen founder, Charlotte Thorne, joined us previously, both as a guest and as a co-host on an episode with Stacy Havener. In this episode we dive into: building and empowering investment teams in family offices; preserving and creating wealth across generations; comparing Eastern and Western family office dynamics; and the psychological biases shaping perceptions of wealth. The Value Perspective with Alex Roepers

This week on the Value Perspective podcast, we’re delighted to be joined by Alex Roepers, a guest at this year’s London Value Investment Conference. Alex is the Founder, President and Portfolio Manager of Atlantic Investment Management and a legend in the value investing world. With nearly 40 years of experience, he has navigated countless market cycles and gained a reputation as a ‘gentleman activist’, someone who engages constructively with management to unlock value, especially in the industrial sector. His approach is distinct, with a concentrated portfolio of only 8-10 stocks, a patient mindset and a sharp eye for undervalued assets. Born and raised in the Netherlands, but now based in New York, Alex brings an international perspective to his investing style, following his previous experiences at Thyssen-Bornemisza Group and Dover Corporation. In this episode, we discuss: Alex’s career, including how his approach has evolved over decades in public markets; the lessons he has learned from unexpected success; his thoughts on whether investors today are less performance-driven than they once were; his memorable analogies between investing and both sailing and the Tour de France; and finally, how he uses catalysts to drive price discovery in ways that parallel private equity.
