Ask Nick - Can’t Date Me Because He’s “Dating” His Cousin

We are back with another episode of Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! In this episode we bring on even more callers to help our listeners out in their various relationships. We welcome our first caller who struggles with how to navigate a situation when her boyfriend refuses to get a divorce with his wife. Because of this, our caller is left in a weird place wondering if they are in the wrong, especially when their friends may not be fully supportive, and if she should continue to push her boyfriend to get divorced and move on. Our next caller has issues when her boyfriend’s cousin starts showing jealousy towards their successful relationship. Now, our caller wonders how to deal with this awkward situation when the intentions of a family member aren’t clear. Our last caller struggles when her workaholic boyfriend can be distant. When our caller deals with a family issue and needs genuine support, her boyfriend makes jokes and doesn’t take the situation seriously. Now the caller asks for how to set expectations and properly ask for emotional support.

On this episode we dive deep with Josh and get into some burning questions. We talk about the balance between being opened and closed, how Josh’s sponsor gives the realest advice, and pushing back against the “s****y committee” in your head. We dive into the relationship between Megan Fox and Machine Gun Kelly asking if the candle that burns twice as bright lasts half as long. We then bring on two Office Hours Text callers to give them some advice in their situationships. Our first caller deals with processing getting the “ick” and how to communicate with the guy she’s seeing that she is no longer interested. Our second caller struggles when she crushes on her mom’s hot Pickleball Coach. She wonders if she can make something happen when she takes a quick trip back to her hometown.

Ask Nick - Dumped for a Lease

Ask Nick - Dumped for a Lease

We are back with another episode of Viall Files: Ask Nick Edition! In this episode we dive back into our callers’ burning questions and help them navigate relationships, situationships, and everything in between. Our first caller struggles in dating with setting expectations and giving boys options she doesn’t want them to have. After two years of being single, now she wants to learn to take initiative and control in the unpredictable world of casual dating. Our next call features a couple who is having a tough family situation, where one of the caller’s sisters is struggling with addiction and coming to terms with next steps. Now the caller wonders how they can support her sister coming out about needing support to the entire family, without causing resentment or a rift. Our last caller struggles when she wonders what the limits of a long distance relationship can be, especially when kids are involved. Despite both being outsiders living in Thailand, her partner insists on having his own place a few hours away in the same country. Now, she wonders if she’s been wasting 10 years of her life on a guy who will always be hesitant to make the next move and progress their relationship or if she’s actually very accepting of her situation.

“We can be convincing to ourselves in what we want when we think it’ll get us something else.”

Going Deeper - Erika Priscilla, Selling Sunset & Texting Office Hours

Welcome back to The Viall Files, Going Deeper edition! Today we are joined by TikToker and Comedian, Erika Priscilla, as well as her fiancé, Scott! On this episode we dive deep into the shocking reunion of Selling Sunset, where we react to the tears (real and fake), talking about how public breakups don’t always need a public explanation, and when is it too soon to call someone the love of your life. We also get back into some Bachelor Drama and react to Tayshia’s reaction to a social media comment, and talk about the pros and cons of reading what people have to say about you online. We then bring on two callers to our Office Hours segment! Our first caller struggles after a drunken hookup. Despite ending well, our caller wonders what to do after being left on read after sending a very direct and honest text. Our next caller wonders how to deal with a boy with very convenient excuses for being unavailable for dates. Now she’s stuck debating if windsurfing is a viable excuse and maybe if her being too direct may have given this guy the ick.

“The disrespect he gave is the closure.”

Amber & Johnny: Body Language Expert & Therapist plus Natalie Joy!

Amber & Johnny: Body Language Expert & Therapist plus Natalie Joy!

Welcome back to The Viall Files: Bachelor Gossip Edition! Today we are joined by Natalie Joy to help us dive deep and tackle the latest on the Amber Heard and Johnny Depp trial, bringing on psychologist, Dr. Kirk Honda, as well as body language expert, Janine Driver. After recapping the emotional testimonies, the inconsistencies in the narratives, and the allegations of using drugs in the courtroom and posing for photos, we bring in the experts to answer all of your burning questions. We first bring on Dr. Kirk to get his reactions to what's happening in this case, how two doctors could land on different diagnoses, and what people should do when stuck in traumatic situations without access to therapy. After that we bring on Janine Driver who is a body language expert with a focus. She dives into how being theatrical can be part of your baseline, how the structure of a story can tell if you’re lying or not, and the massive amount of damage to your credibility that happens when you decide to fake cry. We then recap the information that we’ve learned and talk about why people want to side with Amber, and how people should believe women, regardless of how this specific case ends.

“Typically truthful people convey information, liars try to convince us.”

Dr. Darcy Sucked

I’m an avid Viall Files listener & I completely recognize & appreciate Nick’s efforts to lift up mental health in ways that are relatable to his audience. I’m a marriage & family therapist, and I found Dr. Darcy’s discussion surrounding Amber Heard & Johnny Depp atrocious. The language she used was stigmatizing, sexist, and flat out misinformed. She is an example of a mental health professional who perpetuates stigma and shame surrounding mental health. I was very disappointed with that episode, but appreciated the attempt to remedy the situation with Dr. Honda. Overall, I love Nick and his work, but I really encourage that if mental health be a focus the team consist of at least one trustworthy person to assess the quality of mental health guests. Great ones help the field take a small step forward, but bad guests like Dr. Darcy set the field back years.

your thoughts aren't that important

i was an avid listener for close to a year, but seeing the recent coverage about the amber heard trial has completely soured me. i cant listen anymore. domestic abuse is far outside your area of expertise. you're contributing to a misogynist narrative that is actively harming survivors. and people with mental illness given your coverage around BPD. which isn't surprising that your guests have a habit of armchair diagnosing people with personality disorders (shout out to justin long).
