    When a Transgender Person De-Transitions (Laura’s Story) | Ep. 47

Outspoken detransitioner Laura Perry Smalts is the founder of Transgender to Transformed, a powerful ministry that helps folks suffering from gender dysphoria. In this conversation with Adira, Laura recounts her childhood understanding of gender differences and early sexual trauma, which resulted in lifelong hypersexuality, pornography addiction, and persistent gender confusion.

As you’ll hear, Laura went to great lengths to overcome her dysphoria, including a full mastectomy and hysterectomy. Yet, Laura’s mental battle raged on and on and on…until God moved. This is the miraculous story of an unexpected, deep-healing transformation made possible in Jesus Christ.

What is GODLY Ambition? An Ex-New Ager Answers | Ep. 46

What is GODLY Ambition? An Ex-New Ager Answers | Ep. 46

Having grown up with few financial means, Erica Hardy has long dreamed of making her own way. But since exchanging crystals and yoga for Jesus and prayer, Erica has undergone a massive heart and mind transformation... and with that has come a renewed vision of "success." So what is healthy, God-honoring ambition? And how does it differ from the ambition of the world?

In this episode, Adira and Erica discuss Erica's new age past (which included strange rituals involving menstrual blood...), her decision to marry her husband the week she met him, her hard-won victory over limiting thought loops (spoiler: it was won by Jesus), and how we can confidently work "as to the Lord and not to men" (Colossians 3:23).

Jesus on Death Row: Story Time with a Prison Chaplain | Ep. 45

Jesus on Death Row: Story Time with a Prison Chaplain | Ep. 45

Adira chats with retired Pennsylvania prison chaplain Henry G. Covert, author of the celebrated book Ministry to the Incarcerated, which Adira first read in seminary! Before becoming a chaplain, Henry spent nearly two decades working as a police officer and detective…suffice it to say, he has a deep understanding of crime, punishment, and the lasting solution found at the Cross.

The majority of this conversation centers on Henry’s relationship with a condemned man named Keith Zettlemoyer, who requested Henry's presence on the day of his 1995 execution. Adira and Henry discuss the difficult details of Keith's final hours, how Jesus’ finished work should shape the Christian understanding of life and death, the difference between Old Testament and New Testament visions of justice, Henry's personal faith journey, and how we can maintain an active (NOT passive!) journey toward holiness.

Unplanned Pregnancy + The TRUTH About Purity (with Amy Ford) | Ep. 44

Unplanned Pregnancy + The TRUTH About Purity (with Amy Ford) | Ep. 44

Years ago, teenager Amy Ford showed up at an abortion clinic with every intention of ending her pregnancy. But through an unexpected turn of events, she ended up keeping her baby AND encouraging thousands of other girls and women to do the same. In this interview with Adira, Amy revisits the emotional rollercoaster of her unplanned pregnancy, which was made even harder by the church’s propensity toward shame. In addition to unpacking the consequences of this shame, Amy and Adira discuss common misconceptions about the Gospel (heart transformation > behavior modification), social media fakeness, feminism, and what God’s Word ACTUALLY has to say about purity.

Depression, Temptation, and the Future of Film (with THE SHIFT's Brock Heasley) | Ep. 43

Depression, Temptation, and the Future of Film (with THE SHIFT's Brock Heasley) | Ep. 43

Does God still give people personal revelations? Can we actually trust a prophetic word? In this episode, science fiction filmmaker Brock Heasley RETURNS to Then God Moved to recount his decision to hold onto God’s promises, despite the enemy’s many lies. As you’ll hear, Brock’s faithfulness has been majorly rewarded. Not only is his film (which was once seemingly on the brink of failure) now in theaters, but it ultimately gained the one and only Dallas Jenkins, creator/director of The Chosen, as Executive Producer. In addition to that miraculous story, Brock and Adira discuss Satan's voice, the connection between spiritual oppression and mental illness, the social and spiritual difficulties of creating subversive Christian content, and the worthwhile pain of becoming holy.

Why Didn't God Stop My Molester? | Ep. 42

Adira sits down with her friend C.J. Caudle to discuss the tension between sin, free will, and divine providence. They discuss C.J.'s childhood trauma and resulting avoidant and self-isolating tendencies, God's surprising response to his teenaged ultimatum ("give me a sign or I'm done"), the journey from baby-Christianity to mature godliness, and the redemptive power of radical forgiveness.

Why Didn’t God Stop My Molester

This was a wonderful interview that showed how incredibly faithful God is to His people especially in their trials and storms of this life. CJ shared his testimony so clearly and thoughtfully giving the listener hope for their future when they submit and commit their lives to Christ. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom which showed so clearly in CJ’s testimony when he gave up his ways and plans and responded in a “yet not I but through Christ in me” kind of way. So encouraged by the depth of maturity CJ exhibits and am excited to see where the Lord takes him and leads him in his next season of life.

I was today years old when I learned that yoga is Hindu worship

I love this show and look forward to new episodes. Adira has a way of asking her guests such thought provoking questions and isn’t afraid to really dive into controversial topics.
I love hearing about people’s experiences when they encounter God for the first time or reencounter God in a life-changing way.
I too have been moved by the Holy Spirit which transformed my life beginning the first time i walked into the gym of my home church 8 years ago. I hope this podcast strengthens your relationship with God and inspires you to see how God can heal you and use you in big ways!

Today, I listened to Adira interview a former clairvoyant guest who was later saved by the grace of God. She talked about the dangers of inviting spirits into your life by participating in seemingly harmless things such as tarot cards and even yoga. The Bible warms us specifically about not going to fortune tellers but the enemy is very deceitful when it disguises itself as improving one’s health by doing yoga. My mother has always told me to be careful practicing yoga; to not invite spirits in, but i never knew what she meant. Today, i learned that the yoga poses are actually worship poses to different gods; for example, sun salutation is worship to the sun god! 🤯 The truth is hard to hear sometimes, but i hope that knowing this will save you from any harm that can come from worshipping other gods.
