The sound a whistle makes - with Jamie Reed
Jamie Reed is a self described Queer woman and mom of 5. She holds a Masters of Science in Clinical Research Management and previously worked as a case manager at the Washington University School of Medicine's paediatric transgender centre at St Louis Children's Hospital. She left the position in November of 2022 due to concerns that they were harming more than helping many of their patients. Last month she published a story in the Free Press of what she described as morally and medically appalling clinical practices.

The Cost of Transparency
Earlier this week, the Gender Dysphoria Alliance published a blog article chronicling the ripple-effect impact that speaking publicly has had on Aaron Kimberly's family. Jamie Reed - Whistle-Blower Episode
This episode is one of the best podcasts I’ve ever listened to, and I listen to many. Reed opened my eyes and educated me about the poor quality of pediatric gender care in the clinic where she worked, and it would appear, in gender clinics more broadly. The bottom line is that the medical profession, and we as a society, need truthful and accurate information about the depth of therapeutic assessment supporting medical interventions on minors, the outcomes of those interventions, and the establishment of a self-critical process to minimize harms. I applaud Reed for bravely standing up for the interests and well-being of children, as I’m sure she knew in advance the heavy personal costs of doing so.
Really appreciate this podcast
As a liberal progressive (who was initially SO skeptical of ANY critiques of how care was being provided for trans youth) this podcast has really helped me to understand a more nuanced view. I applaud those that I now understand are trying to keep kids safe, whether that's through transitioning or not.
Unbiased, compassionate and interesting!
