All about emetophobia (AKA: "you make me sick")

All about emetophobia (AKA: "you make me sick")

In this episode, we discuss treating symptoms of emetophobia, with Anna Christie - an expert by experience who has gone on to treat hundreds of people with emetophobia, create several online resources to help in treating it, and authored a book for therapists on how to effectively navigate the treatment journey.

If you've wondered what the best way is to proceed with exposure treatment for emetophobia (or want some advice that might also be relevant to other specific phobias), this is a wonderfully informative episode!

Chelle sadly isn't with us for this episode as she's under the weather, but we're lucky enough to have this episode guest hosted by Fiona Greenhalgh, a recently-qualified CBT therapist working in a Talking Therapies service.

    ABOUT ANNA CHRISTIE

Anna Christie is a psychotherapist, author and emetophobia specialist. Anna has a history of severe emetophobia and has been anxiety-free for over 20 years.

Her new book, Emetophobia: Understanding and Treating Fear of Vomiting in Children and Adults is available from all good bookstores, including Amazon!

Anna also runs a great website - https://emetophobia.net/ - which contains lots of great resources to conduct exposure work with clients, and she also hosts the Emetophobia Help podcast!

You can keep up to date with Anna's work on twitter at @EmetHelp.

    Working with Comorbid ADHD

For this episode of Two Lost Souls we are joined by Dr. Helen Moya to discuss working with clients who experience comorbid Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder symptoms alongside mild-to-moderate mental health conditions. We discuss some background information to ADHD / ADD and take a look at why rates of referral and diagnosis for specialist ADHD treatment are on the rise. If you encounter clients with ADHD in your IAPT / Talking Therapies service, this episode serves as a useful tool to widen your knowledge base.

    TLS and CPD

Good news! The BABCP have informed us that listening to CBT-related podcasts can count as some of your CPD! Hooray! Feel free to spread the word about the show to anyone who needs a few more hours on their log to maintain accreditation this year...

    Socratic Questions

We answer a voicenote from Sharon about acknowledging other treatment modalities within IAPT.
