Up and Vanished Weekly

Ignore the one-star Incel and Karen tragedy-tourist reviews who can’t handle any criticism of prejudice within the Police or criminal justice system. Solid podcast that brings in real issues in America as a whole. If they just want uncritical murder-p*rn they should go elsewhere.

Out of the vast amount of true crime options available, I listen to Up and Vanished because Payne has always prioritized victims and their families as well as demonstrated a commitment to responsible journalism over salacious rumor mongering. This podcast does not have the same high quality content - so far all the episodes have been slightly breathless rehashing of rumors and speculation with little to no verifiable fact. In the episode about Louisiana, the hosts openly discuss how their ideas are all speculation and conspiracy theory. This makes the podcast no different from any of the hundreds of other sensationalist true crime podcasts that are low quality at best and actively harmful at worst. As a long time listener of Payne, I'm really disappointed in this show. I turned off this week's episode and don't know that I'll be listening to any others that come out.

Absolutely loving that with the weekly podcasts the team is able to pull more cases out of the ether. Thank you!

Payne apparently had one good podcast in him then decided it was all about just making money because there is NO WAY he thinks this is being helpful to anyone. The dialogue sounds like middle school girls spreading rumors they heard on the playground with ads interrupting every two minutes. No thank you.
