Versus Series Ep: 1 | Business Person Vs Business Owner

K-Talk

What it takes to be a business person?

So I hear business owners say often they are business people because they own a location. But honestly, any idiot can own a location, and I have met these people. Business people are not interested in themselves. They are interested in the longevity of their business and making the most money. Therefore, they become organized, invest in their people, and allow people to be creative. Rather than take shortcuts, they understand that treating people right BUT also they can not operate a business on their agenda. They have to employ people with vision or outsource their work.

A Business Owner: A business owner owns a business, the makes it seem like they are very good at business. But they are not. They have a company that runs haphazardly, only for themselves. They do not think about staff or see a vision for the business. They expand as they see fit, but not more than that.

A Business Person: Believes in expansion, whether in service or location. They believe in optimizing service, so they spend money on people and cultivate those relationships. They understand that people have different skills, and they optimize people's skills. They also pay accordingly to know what people can offer.
