For the Fallen: Julian Keen – Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission

For the Fallen: Julian Keen – Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission

126 For the Fallen: Julian Keen – Florida Fish & Wildlife Commission

Florida FWC Officer Julian “Batman” Keen was known for his bright smile, relentless enthusiasm, and deep commitment to the people and wildlife of his home state. On a quiet Sunday morning in 2020, he heard a crash outside his home and looked out to see a truck driving recklessly. He gave chase without hesitation, eventually intercepting the hit and run suspect - who escaped - but inexplicably returned to the scene, opened fire and sped away. Officer Keen was 30 years old. His friend and mentor, FWC Lt. Pam Steelman shares the legacy of a remarkable young man, determined to fulfil a lifelong dream, and give back to the community he loved - and who loved him so dearly in return.

“It is not how these officers died that made them heroes; it is how they lived.” ~ National Law Enforcement Memorial, Washington, DC

A Game Warden's commentary on Christopher Alexander post World Class Ohio Buck

A Game Warden's commentary on Christopher Alexander post World Class Ohio Buck

I did this game warden commentary regarding Christopher Alexander, who allegedly poached a world-class buck in Ohio. I have heard so much speculation regarding this buck through social media that I had to engage on the side of the game wardens.

OkieGW705 ,

Thanks from Oklahoma!

With 23 years on, beginning my 24th year tomorrow, I hadn’t gotten into listening to podcasts. One of the guys I supervise, always talks about listening to podcasts. I still resisted. Another GW shared a Bear Grease podcast about caviar poaching in Oklahoma. Knowing all of the GWs involved in the stories, I took interest and decided to listen. Well… several weeks later I’m hooked… I can’t speak highly enough of Warden’s Watch! I’m still working my way through all of the episodes, but I haven’t listened to one that I didn’t enjoy and or learn from! I’ve laughed and cried listening to others tell OUR stories! There’s no other job like what we do! I’m a proud second generation Oklahoma Game Warden and cannot speak to the gratitude I have for this podcast! Telling OUR stories will hopefully reinvigorate the recruiting and PASSION for this way of life! God Bless and keep it going!
