Bronze-Age Monsters
With the Comics Code loosening in 1971, monsters came roaring back into the pages of our favorite medium. Kids that grew up reading comics were now making them; many of them were members of the counter-culture. Throw in a desire to do something all-new (and some fads like kung-fu) and you have all the makings of a wild decade of comics. Join Jacob Balcom & Matt Howell as they explore some of the craziest comics of the 1970s (and early '80s). Each season focuses on a different character.
Monsters, mirth, madness, mixology, and more

Great show, love the deep dives into often overlooked characters, creators and storylines. Matt and Jacob have a great dynamic and love this stuff while acknowledging how often it’s goofy, clunky and corny - which is a fine line to tread. Would’ve given 666 stars, but this only goes to 5. Stay Bronze! Plus I want some sweet Son of Satan buttons for my jacket.
The Best Horror Comic Podcast of All Time (f’real!)

I look forward to BAM every time they drop an episode. I’ve been traveling with them down the weird and wild vista of Bronze Age Horror comics since I discovered them as the Werewolf By Night podcast. They bring a depth to the breadth of Bronze Age horror comics. I learn something every time and I bet if you give this podcast a try, you’ll get hooked, too.
Lots of Fun!

I love the variety of the podcast and the way in which the latest season gives attention to so many wonderful characters. A very fun listen and an easy podcast to drop into! If you love 1970s Marvel, or even have a passing interest, give it a try!
My favorite comics podcast!!

Matt and Jacob, you guys are the best. I first started listening in 2021 when doing random search’s on Apple Podcasts. I knew about Werewolf by Night but never read any of his appearances. I got hooked quickly and love your guys commentary. I’ve loved old universal movies growing up as a kid, in fact the one I saw being 1941s The Wolfman, so having a podcast like this takes me back. I’ve gotten a bit behind and am now getting caught up on your Bronze Age buffet, and I’m enjoying every bit of it! I’m sad to see Brother voodoo go but am liking N’Kantu the living mummy. Nothing beats go old Bronze Age monsters! Thank you both for all you do! So til we meet again neath the full moon furry ones, here’s howlin at yah!!🐺🌕
