Life is a series of choices. No, not only big ones - small ones. Tiny ones sometimes. They're often in the form of questions.

How will I deliver hard news to that person? How will I get control of my eating? How can I choose happiness?

Too often we choose a passive approach. We let things happen.

Passivity is a binding, heavy chain that needs to be broken. It is broken by winning the moment.

We build strength of character and power of will by seeing life as moments we can win. This podcast is all about finding those victories, celebrating them, and building on them.

Episode 9: Win the Synaptic Path

Episode 9: Win the Synaptic Path

As this podcast goes on a lengthy, possibly permanent hiatus, I wanted this episode to try and tie up exactly what the entire point of the podcast is. So I use some deep neuropsychology to get at that and to, as near as I can, prove that we can win the moment by catching ourselves before we let the same old passive cycles take over.

We can train our brains, friends.

This episode digs into how that truly is possible and why we should.

    Episode 8: Win the Narrative

    Episode 8: Win the Narrative

We get into some pretty deep psychology in this episode, inspired by the book Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain, by David Eagleman. What I've been reading in it lately has helped clarify some thoughts I've been trying to articulate, so it worked out great to make this episode. I hope you enjoy as I do my best to talk through the notion of being a critical, honest observer of our own actions and internal processes and overlaying the narrative we want rather than the narrative that passively shows up.

As always, please do review and share this podcast!

    Episode 7: Win the Skin

    Episode 7: Win the Skin

Have you ever been told you need a thicker skin? How about a thinner skin? What does that even mean?

We talk about what thin and thick skin *really* are and why we actually need to have both and how to go about that. You can get control of this. It takes winning the moment bit by bit until your moment muscles are popping!

    Episode 6: Win the Statement

    Episode 6: Win the Statement

Everything we do is a statement. It's a statement to ourselves and to the world around us. Think of any number of the situations you face in your day - getting up to exercise, eating that cake (I love cake), eating another piece of cake (I really love cake), saying that nice thing or that unkind thing. Or even sending that vitriol-filled tweet or post on Facebook.

We're making statements to ourselves and others constantly.

It's time to win those statements. Time to make a stand for what we truly believe and want to prioritize.

    Episode 5: Win the Procrastination

    Episode 5: Win the Procrastination

We all procrastinate. If we feel guilt over it, it would be a good idea to listen to Episode 3 of this podcast. :-)

The truth is that procrastination is a real thing and we often feel it gets in the way of our productivity. And that is often the case! There are several big reasons why we procrastinate and in this episode I discuss those and talk about how to break through those.

However, I kick the episode off with a story about winning an important moment. We're still working through that moment, but so far so good.

As always, thank you for listening and please consider leaving a rating and review.

    Episode 4: Win the You

    Episode 4: Win the You

Man oh man, that episode title is a real stretch, isn't it? But we have to keep it on brand here, so that's what you get.

Of course, by this title, I mean win YOU. Which really means find YOU, strengthen YOU, and hold fast to YOUR principles and core ideals. In this episode, I share a failure and a success I recently had with winning my tone, and then I dive into two... sort of beings inside you. I don't mean two wolves inside you, because that's a meme.

We all have "True Us" and "Betrayed Us" inside us. Our job is to make it so that "True Us" wins more than "Betrayed Us." This episode will help you get some handholds and footholds so you can break out of the cycle of betraying your core principles - and also learn to be forgiving and patient.

Join the ride! Invite some friends along. And while you're at it, please review this podcast!
