Wrestling Tonight: AEW FULL GEAR FALLOUT | JON MOXLEY RETAINS AEW WORLD TITLE | WWE SURVIVOR SERIES PREVIEW | HEYMAN TAPS PUNK TO AID BLOODLINE

The Turnbuckle Tavern

This week on Wrestling Tonight, we’re celebrating our 100th episode with a deep dive into one of the more eventful weeks in wrestling. Chad & Acefield Retro are here to break down the biggest moments, from match outcomes to game-changing announcements. Trust us, you won’t want to miss this!

AEW Full Gear was a pivotal event, with Jon Moxley proving once again that he’s the heart and soul of AEW, retaining his AEW World Championship after a brutal showdown with Orange Cassidy. It wasn’t just about the match itself, though—Full Gear set the stage for AEW’s future. On the January 1 episode of Dynamite: Fight for the Fallen, AEW will kick off 2024 in a major way with a simulcast on Max and TBS. During Full Gear, Tony Schiavone dropped some major news: the participants for the Continental Classic will be revealed on “Selection Sunday,” ramping up anticipation for what’s to come. And if that wasn’t enough, AEW is making history with a December residency at the legendary Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, featuring ROH Final Battle, a live Collision, and a holiday-themed Dynamite on 34th Street. The excitement is palpable, and AEW’s momentum is only growing.

But the real drama comes when we turn our attention to GCW, who are facing an uphill battle as they return to Hammerstein on January 19. This marks a key moment for GCW, who made their name at the venue with the iconic The WRLD on GCW event in 2022. However, after AEW's residency, they’ll be walking into a shadow of high production values and expectations. Critics pointed out logistical missteps during GCW’s first Hammerstein show, and the pressure is on for them to step up and deliver. With AEW’s top-tier presentation now setting the standard, will GCW be able to rise to the occasion, or will they struggle to hold their ground?

Meanwhile, WWE is cooking up its own brand of drama with Survivor Series, and this year’s event just got a whole lot more interesting. CM Punk’s return was a huge surprise, shaking up the Bloodline saga. After Solo Sikoa issued an ultimatum to Roman Reigns, Paul Heyman shocked the world by announcing Punk as the fifth member of Reigns’ team, adding a new layer of tension and excitement to an already high-stakes match., and Survivor Series has just become a whole new ballgame. But the surprises don’t stop there. WWE’s Independent Development (ID) Program continues to grow, with standout names like Aaron Roberts, Zoe Sager, Kylie Rae, and Freedom Ramsey all making waves. WWE’s focus on discovering the next generation of superstars is taking shape, and these young talents are ready to leave their mark.

Looking ahead, the countdown is on for TNA Turning Point 2024, which will take place in Winston-Salem on November 29. This event is one of the most anticipated in TNA’s recent history as the promotion looks to reignite the fire with new storylines, talent, and a fresh direction. Over in Japan, NJPW is gearing up for Wrestle Kingdom, with a highly anticipated match between Kenny Omega and Gabe Kidd. This rivalry has reached a personal level, and their match is sure to be one of the most talked-about of the year. In the indie scene, Lyra Valkyria is set to make her long-awaited return to Over The Top Wrestling—another sign of how the lines between major promotions and the indies continue to blur as talent moves freely between both worlds.

And of course, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, Chad gets real about his wrestling-inspired holiday feast. From the perfect turkey to wrestling-themed sides, he’s breaking down his ideal meal, all served with a side of wrestling greatness.
