    Emily Proud: CBS Sports and 24/7 Sports anchor on creating her own path, D1 athletics, and living authentically

    Emily Proud was a four-year D1 student-athlete on the women's soccer team at Belmont University in Nashville, TN, majoring in Journalism and wrote for the Belmont Vision, the school's newspaper. She then went on to work as a sports anchor at a Knoxville ABC News affiliate covering all sports for the University of Tennessee before moving back to Nashville to work for WKRN as a sports and weekend news anchor. She's currently the anchor and host at CBS Sports and 24/7 Sports, where she talks all things football, basketball, and college recruiting. She's super open about her experiences being a sportscaster, handling online hate, and leaning into her authentic personality.     Lauren Rosen: NBA team reporter for the 76ers on her journey with self-confidence, owning your space, and looking the part

    Lauren Rosen was a four-year cheerleader at Duke University where she worked as a production runner for ESPN and was first introduced to high-level basketball. She then went on to get her Master's in Journalism at Northwestern University before working her way up to team reporter for the NBA's Philadelphia 76ers. She co-hosts The Big Niang Theory Podcast with Georges Niang, writes stories for the 76ers website, and conducts pre, post, and mid-game interviews with 76ers players. We get into all things self-confidence, online trolls, being judged for her appearance, and not being taken seriously as a woman working in men's sports.     Courtney Cox: Working at ESPN, covering women's basketball in Russia, & sports media academia

    Dr. Courney Cox is an assistant professor in the Department of Media and Cinema Studies at the University of Illinois, where she focuses on the relationship between gender and sports. She worked as a production assistant at ESPN's Bristol, CT headquarters before getting her Master's in Journalism at the University of Texas. She then worked for the WNBA's LA Sparks, an NPR affiliate in Pasadena, CA, and completed her Ph.D. at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School. Her dissertation took her internationally as she traveled to France and Russia to study labor and women's professional basketball. She then became an assistant professor at the University of Oregon and is currently an assistant professor at Illinois. She is the co-host and co-director of the Sound of Victory project and Sounding Off podcast (alongside interviewee Perry Johnson), and is a published author of "Double Crossover: Gender, Politics, and Performance in Basketball".     Kate Scott: The voice behind the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA & being the "first" woman in sports broadcasting

    If you watch basketball at all, you're familiar with her, Kate Scott is the voice of the Philadelphia 76ers in the NBA, but she didn't start there. Kate was the first woman to call an NFL game on the radio, the first woman to call Pac-12 football was a member of the first all-female broadcast team for the NHL, was the first woman to call a Golden State Warriors, and called the Olympic men's and women's basketball on NBC. She's a force to be reckoned with, but she doesn't take herself too seriously, so get ready for some laughs.     Perry Johnson: The Super Bowl halftime show, the national anthem, and music's influence on sports culture

    Perry Johnson is a post-doctoral fellow at The University of Pennsylvania's Annenberg School for Communications. She previously got her B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. at the University of Southern California's Annenberg School, and her research focuses on music, popular culture, power, identity, and belonging. She is the co-host of the Soundig Off podcast and co-creator (along with interviewee Dr. Courtney Cox!) of "The Sound of Victory" project, which dives into the relationship between sports, music, and American history.     Betty Wiseman: Creating the one of the first women's basketball programs in the South & how faith guides her

    Betty is a trailblazer and icon in women's collegiate sports. She created one of the first collegiate women's basketball programs in the Southeast at Belmont University in 1968. That's four years before Title IX was passed (before Vanderbilt and the University of Tennessee had teams!). She talks about growing up on a farm in rural Tennessee, what it was like being a woman in sports in the 60s & 70s, and how she's handled adversity with grace.
