Dancing with Hungry Ghosts with Dani Cino

Dancing with Hungry Ghosts with Dani Cino

#006 - In this episode I chat with Dani Cino who has learnt most of what she knows from her own journey through opiate addiction, trauma and the process she's had to go through to heal from and maintain her long term recovery from this experience.

Dani last used heroin in September 2012 and her own life has been my greatest educator and teacher. Dani's experience with the many incomplete modalities and systems in the mainstream recovery culture that tend to focus on masking symptoms rather than root-cause resolution and healing has fueled her passion for the need for trauma-informed support as well as alternatives to prescription medications for those struggling with chronic pain and opiate addiction.

As part of her healing journey, her interest in the application in the medicinal use of cannabis for chronic pain management has allowed her to train with some of the most well established cannabis dispensaries in California, where she has held every position the cannabis industry has to offer, working 1:1 with hundreds of clients over the last 9 years mitigating their pain.

Dani is a Phytotherapy Consultant specializing in the use of CBD and Cannabis medicine as a holistic alternative to prescription medications for chronic pain management, as well as the use of these holistic plant medicines to help opioid dependent users in detox from their opiate of choice. Dani is  well versed in the use of cannabis as an alternative to opiate maintenance programs, a natural and safer substitute to Methadone or Suboxone regiments. Dani also specialize in custom microdose schedules to address the depression and anxiety that comes hand in hand with addiction.

Survivor and Thriver with Cancer Survivor Craig Aird

#004 - At the age of sixteen Craig was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This turned his family’s life upside down. Upon finishing a year of chemo, he was given the heartbreaking news that his cancer was deeper than the doctors thought.

After another successful round of chemo, radiation and a stem cell transplant, Craig pieced his life together and studied Geography, followed by a masters in geospatial mapping sciences. This led Craig to his first job offshore as a surveyor, a career that has taken him  all over the world.

In 2019 Craig left the FIFO (Fly-in, Fly-out) life and opened Clear Mind Studio, a wellness studio focused on mental and physical health for those dealing with stress and anxiety. Craig's stories help others who are struggling to see a positive future and inspire them to make positive changes in their life.

The Quest for Life with Petrea King

The Quest for Life with Petrea King

#003 - Petrea was diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia in 1983 and told she 'wouldn't see Christmas' just 3 months away. Her children were aged 4 and 7. Her marriage had recently collapsed just after the suicide of her brother. Petrea spent several months in a little cave outside of Assisi where St Francis use to retreat to. She spent 18 hours a day meditating - and weeping! - for several months. On her return from Italy, she was in an unexpected remission and was told that it may only last a few days or weeks.

Petrea King is Founder and CEO of the Quest for Life Foundation. The Quest for Life Centre in Bundanoon hosts 34 five-day residential programs plus 100 community workshops each year. More than 125,000 people have utilised Quest’s services. Quest programs provide participants with a proven, holistic and evidence-based approach to creating physical, mental, emotional health and wellbeing.

Petrea is a best-selling author of 9 books and many meditation practices. She is a facilitator, naturopath, yoga and meditation teacher. For the past 21 years, Petrea has been a monthly guest on ABC’s Midweek Conference with Richard Glover where she discusses the challenges of living a meaningful life beyond illness, trauma, difficult circumstances and tragedy.

Petrea has received the Advance Australia Award, Citizen of the Year, the Centenary Medal and has been nominated for Australian of the year each year since 2003 as well as being NSW finalist for Senior Australian of the Year.
