The Importance of Black Love: Pouring Love into Yourself Will Lead You To Fulfilling Relationships With Yourself and Others

The Importance of Black Love: Pouring Love into Yourself Will Lead You To Fulfilling Relationships With Yourself and Others

Has anybody else been seeing a lot of marriages and babies on their timeline? In today’s episode our guest host Sabrina is sharing her journey when it comes to Black Love and the importance of self love first. Join us as we unpack some of the heaviness that comes with Black Love, Femininity for Black women, and the beauty of Black Love.

This week’s Affirmation is “I will attract the partner I deserve ”

    Key Takeaways:
    1. In Order To Pour Love Into Others We Need To Pour Love Into Ourselves: Our relationships will flourish out of “nowhere” when we start to work on our love for ourselves. We cannot pour from an empty cup. .
    2. You Don’t Have To Be Stuck In Your Masculinity: I know a lot of times Black women feel backed into a corner and forced into their masculinity despite not wanting to be there, but you don’t have to be stuck anywhere you don’t want to be. Start doing things that you love that allow you to tap into your femininity or try something new.
    3. Black Love is Beautiful: We get a lot of messages that Black Love is hard and it’s implied that it may not be worth the struggle, but Black Love doesn’t have to be a struggle if we heal ourselves first. Black Love is beautiful because it heals a small piece of our community when two healed and happy Black people find love in one another.

Sabrina is new to the podcasting world and has a show called “The Hood Soft Life Podcast”. In her podcast she talks about the challenges of growing up in the hood and leaving those challenges behind for a soft life. Through personal stories Sabrina shares the struggles and the lessons she’s learning to achieve a soft life.

Finding your Village: How a Nurturing Community Supports your Mental Health | Cultivating Sisterhood Gracefully

Finding your Village: How a Nurturing Community Supports your Mental Health | Cultivating Sisterhood Gracefully

In this episode, our guest host, De'Sia, discusses the significance of nurturing a supportive community for mental health and the cultivation of sisterhood. De'Sia shares her journey and insights on building genuine, reciprocal relationships, emphasizing that not every woman will become a sister at first meet. She highlights the importance of allowing relationships to develop organically and gradually, rather than expecting instant connections. Through her personal experiences, De'Sia hopes to inspire listeners to embrace community and recognize the power of genuine sisterhood.

This week’s Affirmation is: "I deserve genuine sisterhood and I welcome it with an open mind and heart."

    Key Takeaways:
The Importance of Leaning on Sisterhood:
Building a strong support system through genuine sisterhood is crucial for navigating life’s challenges. Embrace the community and let your sisters be there for you, both in good times and bad.
    Finding and Building Your Village:
Reflect on the values that matter to you and seek out communities and individuals who align with those values. Building a village is about creating meaningful connections, both with new people and by strengthening existing relationships.
    Nurturing Relationships with Grace:
Relationships require effort, patience, and grace. Understand that friendships evolve and change, and it’s essential to communicate openly, offer support, and give each other grace as you grow together.

Experiencing Love as a Black Woman, Learning the Love You Deserve and Setting Boundaries for That Purpose.

This summer, we are switching things up. Welcome to Summer Stories: Celebrating Our Narratives. In this episode, guest host Malaika “Laika” Williams opens up about her childhood experiences with love, from family, friends, and romantic interests. She shares insights into what effects each kind of love has on each other and reflects on the lessons she’s learned that helped her find the healthy relationship she
    has today.

This week’s Affirmation is “ I am the love of my life.”

    Key Takeaways:
    - Instead of focusing only on the best friend you yearn for, be that best friend for yourself first.

    - You are the only person you’ll be stuck with for the rest of your life, start acting like it.

    - You need a healthy balance of love from multiple sources; you can’t get everything from yourself or just one person.

Join Yasmyne as she discusses the challenges and triumphs of finding a loving community, and see that this kind of connection is possible for you too.

This week’s Affirmation: “I cultivate meaningful relationships that build community.”

Key Takeaways:Sisterhood Is Not Linear: Understanding the journey of friendships in your twenties can be challenging but worthwhile if you're open to being vulnerable. It's about meeting people where they are and vice versa, without the burden of unrealistic expectations. Not Every Woman You Meet Will Become Your Sister: Accepting that not everyone is meant to be in your orbit and that relationships come with trial and error.Long-Lasting Relationships Are Created Organically: Recognizing that lasting relationships require mutual effort, consistency, and the willingness to evolve and give grace to one another as life changes.

Choosing to Build a Relationship With Your Father in Your Adult Years | Choosing to Let the Hurt Go and Move Forward

Choosing to Build a Relationship With Your Father in Your Adult Years | Choosing to Let the Hurt Go and Move Forward

Are you considering reconnecting with a family member? Are you ready to finally give your inner child a voice in order to heal?

This summer, we are switching things up. Welcome to Summer Stories: Celebrating Our Narratives. In this episode, guest host Karijah “KP” Pinkney takes us on her personal journey on how she made the decision to confront the past and allow space to reunite with a parent in adulthood.

This week’s Affirmation is “I choose to make space for people in my life, regardless of kinship.”

    3 Biggest Takeaways:
You have the full control to choose who is in your life, regardless of kinship.Letting go of the pain is for them and you.Hold space for your inner child, when confronting hurtful events and people who have caused pain.
In the end, choose who you want in your life. No one can make that decision for you. But choosing to open your heart and mind to new possibilities and relationships can bring the healing you’ve been looking for.
