Overpriced con

I came across Olly whilst researching optimised analysis of pathology online, this outsourced pathology service Olly offers is fabulous, it’s the only fabulous thing about the body reset program.

The body reset program, like all highly scaled online business models is laboriously rigid and automated, think bot messaging masquerading as your trainer to congratulate you on completion of a training session, equally cringey is the two days it takes your actual human trainer to respond to your response to what you thought was him/her.

I’m not questioning Olly’s knowledge and experience, thats evident and it’s in the the sales pitch. What you purchase is Olly’s best but hopelessly mediocre effort to consolidate that knowledge into a one size fits all, automated, set and forget, online learning journey with the promise of a personal trainer and nutritionist to guide you through.

My experience after paying the very pricey joining fee went like this.

Kick off call with Olly brought forward at last minute by a week.

Im assigned Kirsty as my personal trainer, Kirsty isn’t available for a call for another 8 days.

Kirsty completely misses that call and decides she’s not the best fit for me before we even begin.

Im assigned a second trainer Josh. Josh isn’t availabile for a call for another 10 days.

Finally I have my first interaction/call with personal trainer Josh a month after paying the joining fee, he’s nice but we don’t actually implement or change anything on that first call.

6 weeks of me entering training data, weight selection, reps, food diarising, nutrition, into clunky app and not a single piece of advice or input from Josh my personal trainer/nutritionist, nothing, the average message response time from Josh was 48 hours.

I message Josh and ask if we can incorporate some Yin yoga or a spin session into the program. Josh doesn’t respond at all.

I message Josh and ask if there is a body weight session as i spend a lot of time travelling ergo there are days i don’t have access to a gym, Josh says no.

I’m given access to another section of the “vault” (browser interface DIY learning portal) i skim the information, I’m confident that I’m across it (i feel it pertinent to add here that prior to joining body reset I’d spent 5 years training on and off with an ultra run coach and nutritionist whilst race prepping)

My second call with Josh at 8 weeks into the program i missed as my phone was damaged in an accident.

I acquire a brand new phone and immediately make contact with Josh to rebook, his next availability is 5 weeks into the future. I query Josh as to how frequent these client/PT zoom calls should be, Josh advises me that calls should take place every 2-3 weeks, and apologises that i’ll be 13 weeks in and only on my second call.

I contact Olly and explain I’m frustrated, he is annoyed as I’ve interrupted his European holiday but wholly agrees that Josh should be actively coaching my movement and nutrition, he also agrees that 13 weeks and only 2 calls is not ideal, he apologises on behalf of Josh and explains that Josh has personal opera commitments that are clashing with his availability. Olly and i agree on a free month to compensate but days later Im charged for a full month. He directs any further issues i should have to the body reset support team.

False promises decimate whatever trust I have left in this shambles, i decide that this is not worth the discounted $1000.00AUD sign up fee and $515.00AUD monthly cost (inc of international transaction fee) and I email the body reset support team. I request a termination of our agreement based on the inconsistencies and failure to provide the service as it was described. I politely ask for a pro rata refund (of what was supposed to be a free month) for services rendered. I waited seven days for a response from the body reset support team, not surprisingly to no avail. I contacted Olly again. Despite acknowledging the critical failures and lack of input and availability of my trainer Josh, Olly and his support team refused my request for a pro rata refund for the month which was supposed to be free.

Olly might be knowledgeable and great at making sponsored instagram videos, however he hasn’t by any means re-invented the wheel. Don’t be pigeon holed into the body reset model, at 1/3 the cost you can have a tailored training and nutrition program with a one on one real time personal trainer and nutritionist, avoid this company and save money in the process, body reset is a VS commodore with a Ferrari price tag.
