Just a Wacko - Misogyny at Hillsong et al part 1
Laura is a Leaving Hillsong pod guest, educator, artist, creator and some time film maker... you've met her before...today we start mammoth task of facing misogyny in the halls of Hillsong and well, right down to the altar call... Laura and Tanya discuss the narcissistic template for pentecostal boys and girls and how maleness is privileged, esteemed and honoured, while femaleness is subservient and ever diminished and minimised.
It happened to Laura.. while researching for her latest project, she quickly became the object of obsession for one of the pentecostal peacocks.. a writer, a decent good Christian man, son of a minister... the kind of human the fundies love to think they are...
until it becomes clear that they are very much nothing like that at all.
It's terrifying and it's time to talk about it. ... so come chat!!

Mine is the Kingdom
Veteran investigative journalist, and Walkely winner, David Hardaker, talks about his new book, Mine Is the Kingdom, the Rise and Fall of Brian Houston, which has just been released.
The book details Houston's life as well as the inner workings, and tax breaks, of Hillsong.
As an outsider without Pentecostal Traumatic Stress Disorder, David's work is thorough, in depth and with minimal personal bias...although he admits developing an unexpected fondness for an aspect of this research and you will be surprised too!

Truth telling is worth it
This podcast is unflinching. They know the truth and the host and insider guests aren’t afraid to reveal it.
They bravely cast a spotlight into the dark corners of Hillsong teachings and its leaders’ behaviours. Very illuminating.
Hell hath no fury like an ex-Hillsong adherent!
Interesting podcast, in that it exposes Hillsong for what it is/was. Sadly, most of those interviewed don’t really have any understanding of Christianity as established by the person of Jesus Christ, which is completely opposite to Hillsong teaching. Houston and his leadership team/influencers has done so much damage to the name of Jesus, but in fact Hillsong is it’s own religion and it should not be aligned with Christianity. It is, in fact, Hillsong Houstonianism, because adherents worshipped Brian Houston and his teachings, they did not worship the Lord God of the Bible and true Christian belief. The podcast overall is a self-indulgent ramble which it assumes the listener knows each of the “players” so it doesn’t sustain the engagement of those outside of the Hillsong universe.
This makes a difference
While the production quality is sometimes a little sketchy the content of this podcast is honest, real and informative. I have recommended this to my family and friends because this is the truth. Thank you for giving a voice to those who have been silent.
