Outlouders, in case you missed it... Holly has a brand new podcast!

Introducing Mamamia's brand new podcast called MID, the grown-up conversations women deserve.

This season brings you compelling conversations full of fun, frank wisdom from an impressive line up of well loved names, in the second act of life who share it all.

MID goes deep on self-care with zero shame and rich experiences you can cherry-pick for wisdom to share, changes to make and attitude we can borrow.

This episode Holly speaks to Julie Goodwin who has had an extraordinary ordinary life. And in the last few years, she has had an extraordinary ordinary wrestle with her mental health.

While you were buying Julie's cookbooks, watching her two stints on Masterchef and listening to her on the radio, she was taking care of everyone but herself (sound familiar?) and some issues she thought she'd successfully shoved in a low drawer spilled out and began to take over.

In this first conversation for Mid, host Holly Wainwright talks to Julie about the winding road back from a "breakdown" and what happens when you stop doing everything for everyone all at once.

If this episode brings up anything for you Lifeline is always there on 13 11 14.

    Bridgerton, A Debrief

    Bridgerton, A Debrief

Lady Whistledown is back and ready to put quill to paper with all the juicy town gossip. That’s because there is a brand new season of Bridgerton and Holly and Mia have some feelings they need to get off their chest.

In this episode, we cordially invited Mamamia's Head of Entertainment and host of The Spill podcast, Laura Brodnik, to unpack the worlds obsession with period shows. We discuss why we're happy to put feelings aside to watch a love story from such an oppressive time in history, why shows like Bridgerton are so successful and ask the question... is there enough sex?

My Little Treat!

Love listening to this podcast and the different perspectives of three intelligent women. I like that they can respectfully disagree with each other too. Thank you!

Mainstream ostriches & nepotism!

Disappointing to see a podcast that once held promise & cultivated a loyal intelligent audience, now falter under the weight of its own narrow-mindedness & prejudices. But here we are. Now I'm jumping in with the chorus of other women who are tired of the turning away from real-world atrocities, filtering realities, gaslighting, tiptoeing, racism, privilege and faux feminism. Turns out - this is the podcast you listen to if you want to pretend a genocide and cultural shift is not happening! The Editorial decision to ignore the dissent of its audience and pressing issues like the war on women and children in Gaza, has led Outloud way off course. Choosing only to discuss the plight of Jewish Israeli women in any depth after Oct 7th, and now after 8 months offering too little too late, tokenistic pieces, due to the looming digital guillotine, is beyond reproach. The recent episodes on the student protests and the prior conversation on Hind, insufferable. It’s not what women are talking about, it's what is making women cringe. Can only imagine the discussion happening behind the scenes. The hosts think they are on the end of ‘a pile on’ and that these comments are about antisemitism, only serving to further expose how shut off they are, and has only isolated the audience more. It’s not about piling on or being antisemitic, but the sheer disproportionate response compared to the level of atrocity in our feeds and the fundamental impact globally, that leaves us adrift. This podcast once pioneering, sadly has had prejudices revealed and goodwill destroyed. The hosts more concerned with tiptoeing around the uncomfortable topic, pandering to personal fragilities, keeping up appearances, and deflecting to avoid anything that could lead back to Gaza. (while pretending not to be) So many episodes now feel like filler, pulling focus to anything else that detracts from the glaringly obvious omission in conversation. Because news flash, everything thing leads back to Gaza. Celebrity culture, American politics. Australian politics, Mothering, Violence against women, Taxpayer dollars, Freedom of Speech, AI, Climate change, Sudan, How to feed the family, What we buy, Tik Tok…. EVERY thing! Making the silence & lack of discussion, even more absurd. The platform is in free fall, buckling under its obsolesce and privilege. The entire show so white bread, narrow & predictable, its excruciating. Beyond the saccharine-controlled conversation, the hosts are sickeningly committed to the Zionistic agenda and playbook. (while pretending not to be, instead calling it being ‘considerate’ and ‘fair’) “It's too upsetting & complex” not landing as genuine, when looking at the complexity of issues that've been discussed on many other occasions. Even the focus on violence against women in Australia (as important as it is) fell short because that care was not extended to women everywhere. In Gaza 1 mother dies every 2 hours, 8000 women killed. Warranting only small chirps or worse radio silence. The ‘let's keep our thoughts local’ and faux feminism, growing more insulting by the second. How bout interviewing or mentioning the Jewish activists calling for a ceasefire? Again another uncomfortable truth the pod shies away from. Jewishness doesn’t need to be conflated with Zionism or being anti-Palestinian. And being Jewish shouldn’t mean a media organisation refuses to speak on a topic, sanitises the conversation or not reporting on the uncomfortable facts. That would be the “media bias” this pod has told us many times over, 100% does not exist. It's not a political podcast you say, actually, this was a very political podcast. And sadly has now discussed TRUMP's destruction of democracy, more than Israel's assault on women and children. Can you imagine this situation reversed and 17000 Israeli children were slain or 30000 orphaned. ..we’d hardly be talking about Taylor Swift for an entire episode! Perhaps the writing was on the wall and we all missed it. Flashbacks of hard lines proudly held on many other topics like the vaccine, (where the hosts were more than happy to dish out very harsh comments on 'lives at risk' and 'being on the ‘right side of history’). BTW no corrections made as more irregularities come to light. Menstrual changes, heart issues, neurological issues, turbo cancers, miscarriages, excess deaths, blood clots, mainstream ivermectin usage, the list goes on and on. And now the Astra Zeneca vaccine completely pulled, many countries no longer administering these to children. But Mamamia holds its hard lines, keeping its lips firmly shut. Not correcting itself. Again. If the truth or science doesn’t fit with the coveted narrative, we are not going to hear it on this platform. The pod now unable to connect to alternative ideas, truthful research, and seems stuck in some loop of conservative thinking. Spiralling it further down into the mainstream media gutter. The hosts' reluctance to confront these realities of injustice, speaks volumes about the descent into complacency and the social vacuum it exists in. Jessie prides herself on her ‘journalistic integrity,’ but not this time. Caught between family loyalty and a hard place. Preferring to feather her nest. And Holly doesn’t need to blink twice or wear Brittney yellow, she's made a decision throughout this last period to not rock the boat, ...ending in her own new podcast. Sadly these are no longer the friends in your ears if you have any connection to reality, seek diverse or progressive conversation. It’s a pod for those who wish to bury their heads in the sand and live in a narrow field of reference. That is if you can handle how narrow it’s getting. With the world in chaos, we deserve better from the voices we choose to amplify. And our time and attention are better spent elsewhere.

Bitterly disappointed

Updated to point out the amount of obviously influenced 5 star reviews over a matter of days that mamamia has obviously pushed for damage control 🙄 the ignorance of some of these comments ‘some people don’t want to know’ gtfo. Why not try listening to your audience feedback instead of trying to silence those who have long supported you.

I’ve been a long time supporter and subscriber until recently. I’ve been to live shows and I’ve brought the books. Not anymore. It’s hard to listen to the lack of acknowledgement and biased view towards Israel due to Mia’s Zionist beliefs. I’d have a lot more respect if they came out and had an honest conversation where Jessie and Holly can say what they really feel without fear of repercussions (I have to believe that they are struggling with this and reading the reviews) It’s gaslighting at this stage ladies. Time for Mia to do some self reflection - that’s an episode I’d pay to listen to.
