Episode 14: Answering Your Questions - From Oceans to Textiles

Episode 14: Answering Your Questions - From Oceans to Textiles

This week we begin to answer questions sent to us by homeschooling families across Australia. And, guess what? Curriculum chat was top of the list!

We decided to dedicate an entire episode to breaking down exactly what learning looks like for our families, as well as plenty of helpful tips we've learnt along the way.

We share with you some of our favourite learning topics, and shed some light on the pros and cons of the way we approach learning. Our favourite curriculum website is nestled into this sweet little episode, so keep listening to find out why our kids (and us) love this ever-growing library of learning units.

Disclosure: Sisters Who Homeschool only recommend products that we love and work for our families. This post may contain affiliate links and Sisters Who Homeschool may earn a small commission (which goes to offsetting the cost of the podcast). Episode 13: Homeschooling Differently (The Neurodivergent Way)

Episode 13: Homeschooling Differently (The Neurodivergent Way)

We are back for another episode (and somehow already in week three?)

Today, Gemma and Holly cosy up in this beautiful, cool weather to discuss the benefits of homeschooling for neurodivergent families.

Our experiences both in and out of the mainstream system open up a conversation surrounding the positive changes our families have felt in letting go of old routines that didn't support our families. Plus, how we embrace our children's unique interests, stay flexible and finding those friends who lift them up!

We feel these conversations are important to share with all families and all neurotypes. We hope this helps you, in some small way, with your homeschooling journey.

Pop the kettle on, settle in and give it a listen.
    Thanks for listening!

    Episode 12: Ashlee's Story

    Episode 12: Ashlee's Story

In this episode we speak with Ashlee, a Paediatric Occupational Therapist (OT), business owner, wife and mother.

Ashlee shares with us an honest look at family life during the early stages of homeschooling and how she balances her beautiful business, Engage OT, with all that is on offer in the homeschooling world.

Ashlee discusses how she found her area of love in Paediatrics after becoming a parent and explains how this field of work has helped her better understand her own children. We love this so much as it shows that a love of learning never stops!

During this episode, Ashlee also guides us through the additional sensory processing areas, to better understand how these senses work within the body. This is such an interesting discussion and we have both taken so much away from our chat with Ashlee.

Details to Ashlee's Business Engage OT are listed in the show notes.

    Happy Listening.

Episode 11: Hellos, Goodbyes, Feminism and Fungi

    It's Term Two!

We are so excited to be back.

Today we catch you up on what we have been up to during the holidays, our homeschool plans for Term 2 (hint: they couldn't be more different) and how we begin to breakdown big topics into bitesize pieces for reporting.

April is Autism Awareness month and over the next few episodes we would love to share our favourite books written by neurodivergent voices discussing their lived experiences.

This week we are starting off with our all time favourite, 'Different Not Less' by Chloé Hayden. Chloé Hayden is an award winning motivational speaker, actor, performer, author, influencer, content creator and disability rights activist and advocate. And we spill the tea (literally) on why we love her so much.
