Episode 67: Why There Is No Such Think As A 'Perfect' Gut

In today’s episode Jessica and Carissa discuss the why the expectations of having a 'perfect' gut are impractical and at times self-destructive. They highlight how the ever-changing microbiota influences how we feel or react outwardly on a day to day and month to month level and how seasonality of produce and what we eat also effects how our gut behaves. Jessica and Carissa also discuss how environmental and other external factors indirectly effect the gut like stress, exercise and hormones and why we need to be respectful of their interplay into the normal ebbs and flows of the gut. Overall Jessica and Carissa aim today to reduce the expectations of perfectionism in the quest for a 'perfect gut' and help listeners respect the individuality of their own unique microbiome.

I enjoy learning plus taking away different tools & wisdom bombs to implement in my daily life. This podcast series is like my version of church/worship haha! The girls have such great banter & some ripper stories, I enjoy laughing along while listening. Look forward to the new episodes when they drop! Love your work girls :)

When this podcast drops, I drop everything.

It’s hard to put into words just how much I love the JCN Clinic Podcast Show. I first discovered this podcast about two years ago when I discovered Jessica Cox by following Rachael Finch on Instagram and watched their live Q&A’s. I remember just being blown away by the wealth of nutritional knowledge from Jessica. I have since gone back and poured over every single one of the previous podcasts and I can truly say that I am a healthier and happier person as a result. I adore this podcast show for two main reasons - first and foremost, being the bottomless pit of nutritional knowledge that the JCN Clinic team selflessly share with their listeners. I knew absolutely nothing about nutrition before discovering this podcast and I can now tell you what a FODMAP is! What makes the information that is given so easy to understand is that the JCN Clinic team provide real life examples and relate the nutritional scenarios that they are discussing to their own lives. If that’s not going above and beyond, I don’t know what is! Secondly, what I love about this podcast show is that the beautiful girls of the JCN team, with Jessica, Carissa and Emma being regulars on the show, is that they are so warm, friendly and down to earth, and they make the show feel as though you are pulling up a chair to sit at a table with a couple of your besties. I love the friendly banter and humour, as it reminds you that you are listening to real people and not a typed script. As I said in my title, when this podcast drops, I drop everything. If you want to learn some valuable nutritional skills to improve your everyday life and have a laugh while doing so, this is definitely the podcast for you.

Love it.

As a nutritional student, I find this podcast very light & refreshing. At times the girls do crack me up.
