    58. Rupture And Repair With Our Kids @wattlepsychology

Joining me for a 2 part mental health series is guest Louisa Mason.

Louisa is a perinatal child and family psychologist. She's also a Mum to 2 boys. She specialises in perinatal anxiety and mood, attachment and bonding and emotions in motherhood. Louisa talks about the challenges and wonders of being a Mum. She normalises that Motherhood is amazing but insanely hard at the same time. The constraint, burnout, guilt, feelings of wanting to escape, frustration, rage, anxiety, overstimulation, intrusive thoughts and relentlessness of early motherhood.

I love that she normalises that if you are finding it hard - you aren't doing it wrong, it's simply because it is HARD.

    What did discussed:

    - What are you referring to when you mention a ‘rupture’

    - Can you provide some examples of repair and why is this important?

    - Are we damaging our bond with our little ones when we experience a rupture?

Can you give us some ideas for how we can pack in extra nutrients within our day such as greens? I know this is something you’re passionate about!
What are adaptogens and why is it beneficial to add these in for kids?

Some takeaways and tips from the ep:

Freeze bananas (peel and cut in half and then can easily add to smoothies)

    55. Creating A Life You Love, Alcohol Free With @sarahrusbatch

    55. Creating A Life You Love, Alcohol Free With @sarahrusbatch

"For decades we have been sold the idea that alcohol is our 'reward' at the end of a busy day. Not only do we use it to celebrate and commiserate, but we rely on it to relieve the stress and exhaustion of the daily grind - to help us switch off, switch on, numb emotions, enhance emotions and everything in between. We use it for self-care, for socialising, for time for ourselves." - Sarah Rusbatch

Over the past year or two, i've become increasingly more aware of the impact of alcohol in my own life and how we are role modelling and normalising drinking as part of life to our daughter Hazel. After deciding to stop drinking early in 2024, not long after I stumbled across Sarah's book, Beyond Booze, and was so compelled by her message - I had to invite her onto the podcast!

Sarah is a certified Women's Health and Wellbeing Coach, an accredited Grey Area Drinking Coach and a Key-Note speaker sharing her journey to sobriety and impact of alcohol on mental health to global audiences.

Beyond Booze will help you create a life you love so much that you no longer need to drink.

    We discussed:

    Grey area drinking
Jazz's experience with alcohol and increased anxiety and her decision to stop drinking alcohol
    Mummy wine culture
Role modelling and normalising alcohol as part of life to our children
How this shapes our children's relationship with alcohol as they get older
How to create a life you love without alcohol
Sarah's tips to help people drink less and how they can go about removing alcohol
Sarah's tips to create a life you love so you don't feel like you are missing out by choosing not to drink alcohol

So helpful for parents of young ones

I’ve been really impressed with the breadth of content Jazz covers across this podcast. Straight to the point with an easy-to-listen-to voice, the tips shared by Jazz and her guests have been so helpful with my new baby and settling in. Highly recommend for any parents with babies or young kids.

An essential podcast for sleep deprived parents!

Jazz is such a fountain of knowledge and wisdom about all things babies and young children. I’ve learned so much from listening to this - from postpartum exercise and nutrition to the 4 month regression and of course plenty of tips and tricks about improving sleep routines!
