Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young maiden with a face so fair and voice so eloquent no one could help but adore her. And, oh ho! Did she have a friend! But unbeknownst to the maiden, her good friend was a witch.

They spent long days together in their youth, sipping wine and drinking ale at their local taverns while telling each other stories of other beautiful maidens and evil witches and helpful dragons and cats who are actually trolls, all while drunkenly laughing to each other about such wonderful tales, and how they could be fixed for the modern ear.

Welcome to Fairy Tale Fix! A podcast for the modern maiden, clever lad, evil witch, frog prince, mischievous faerie, or what have you. Tune in every other Tuesday for fanciful tales between two friends.

Join us this week as Abbie cold reads a couple of obscure Brothers Grimm fairy tales, including The Castle of Murder and The Carpenter & The Turner. Kelsey cold reads a tale that a listener sent specifically for Kelsey to read to Abbie. Can you guess where this is going? That's right – this tale is called The Cat and…erm… Rooster.

    86: She Kidnapped Me…Oh No

This week we finally learn the term “cold reading” thanks to our amazing Faerie Overlord and good friend, Giselle! Kelsey reads from a book discovered in her Little Free Library, posing the timeless question: Why Mosquitoes Buzz in People’s Ears. Meanwhile, Abbie treats us to a cold reading of a tale from our favorite storyteller, Ruth Manning-Sanders, featuring The Princess in the Iron Tower.

This week we're joined by our longtime friend Caroline Donham! Caroline tells us her Red Riding Hood fix that she rewrote when she was little, and it's just as cute as you'd imagine. Then she tells us some effed up nursery rhymes, and Abbie reads an even more effed up Brother's Grimm tale, The Heavenly Wedding.

Strap in for this super-sized and hilarious episode where Geoff puts the fear of God into us with The Doom, and then Katrina takes us for a wild ride that literally none of us could have ever predicted with The Legend of Ballytowtas Castle, both by the illustrious Lady Jane Wilde.

This one is for the #VillainSympathizers out there so…us basically! Kelsey retells the African American folktale Lonna And Cat Woman (we’ll let you guess who we’re rooting for here), and Abbie relates the story of Greek Cinderella - the most unreliable narrator of all time.

These two are a lot of fun!

I have been meaning to write this review for awhile. I really enjoy listening and re-listening to all of the episodes of fairy tale fix! Abbie and Kelsey deliver awesome stories and great reactions. They make you feel like you are listening to old friends and although at first I was overwhelmed by the commentary (because this was my first podcast ever!), that quickly changed as they won me over! They are both real, down to Earth, and opinionated women who are very relatable. I look forward to new episodes and recommend these stories as a MUST listen for everyone. Even my husband chuckles as he overhears me listening while cooking and doing dishes. Give them a try!
