Ontario Cold Cases - The Podcast S2-EP19 on the disappearance of Amber Potts-Jaffary

In November 1988, Amber Potts-Jaffary of Etobicoke, at the west end of Toronto, was just sixteen-years-old. And on November 25 of that year, she made a decision that many teens sometimes do: Amber opted to stay out all night to party with a group of friends.

The evening went smoothly, and she stayed safely in a motel room that evening.

Then, the following morning of November 26, Amber’s mother, Christine Jaffary, and her stepfather, Don Pressey, got tipped off about her whereabouts by one of their daughter’s friends.

Don and Christine traveled to the motel where Amber had stayed– located in south Etobicoke– intending to have a difficult discussion with their daughter.

Don Pressey’s last glimpse of his stepdaughter was of her disappearing figure as she climbed into the car of a stranger she’d flagged down on Lake Shore Boulevard West in south Etobicoke.

That is one version of events, however, there appears to be another.

That was nearly 36 years ago. Amber Potts-Jaffary hasn’t been seen since.

Police are searching for a 29-year-old woman who went missing from Toronto’s east end.

Allyssa Murphy was last seen on Saturday, January 8th, 2024 near Danforth and Greenwood avenues.

She is described as five-foot-five and 160 pounds with brown eyes and long, wavy, black hair. Murphy also has tattoos on her right wrist, left ring finger, right side of neck and behind her ear.

She was last seen wearing a grey tracksuit.

On December 31, 1998, police were called to a farmhouse on Trafalgar Road just north of Derry Road in the Town of Milton for a body found in a field.

Sean Anderson was last seen alive on December 4, 1998  leaving a strip club named EXOTICA located at 137 City View Drive, Toronto.

Ontario Cold Cases - The Podcast: Upcoming Episode on the murder of Ronald MacNeil

On April 20, 1987 Ronald MacNeil’s brutally beaten body was discovered in a rural area near the village of Kilbride 33 km. northeast of Hamilton.

It is believed that MacNeil became involved in the illicit drug market.

On April 24, 1987, one week following MacNeil's disappearance, Steven Roy, a 23-year-old Hamilton man was also murdered and his body dumped in a rural area approximately 28 km. south of Hamilton.

It is known that MacNeil and Roy were associates and attended a party in the penthouse suite of the Century 21 Building on Main Street  Hamilton sometime before MacNeil's death.

On October 3, 1996, Audrey Desjardins, 42, dropped off her friend/co-worker in Welland. Audrey was driving her four-door burgundy 1985 Ford Crown Victoria. She had a loving family that included her 20-year-old son, and her husband, Gaetan. She was never seen again.

Ontario Cold Cases - The Podcast S2-EP18 Brenda Stinson

Brenda Stinson, 23, of Peterborough was found naked and beaten in the ditch on Sawyers Creek Road, south of Lakefield May 12, 1984. The mother of one had last been seen earlier that day at the Trent Inn in Peterborough at 12:15 a.m.

Brenda attended Kenner Collegiate Vocational Institute, but had not finished, and at the time of her death, she was living with her parents in Peterborough with her five-year-old son Johnny.

On December 1, 2005, his abandoned vehicle was found “disabled” 7 km in on Connor Road in Duncan Township, from where he was last seen.

No evidence of Stacy DiLenardi's whereabouts was ever found.

On June 26, 1994, 80-year-old Margaret McDonald was asleep in the early afternoon in her Lascelles Boulevard home, situated near Yonge Street and Davisville Avenue in Toronto.

While asleep, an unknown intruder gained entry to McDonald’s home after forcing the glass sliding door open.

Police believe he broke in not knowing she was in there and sexually assaulted her and beat her to death.

However, homicide investigators do have one crucial piece of evidence that links the unknown killer to the crime – his DNA.

Four days after the murder, Pamela left Ricky at a neighbour’s house and disappeared.
