How to prepare your clients for photoshoot day

How to prepare your clients for photoshoot day

In this episode, I share how you can prepare your clients for photoshoot day.
I walk through the document I send my clients to set their expectations and get them ready for us when it comes time for photoshoot day.
Managing client exceptions is especially important for service-based businesses. It is your job as the professional to educate your client on the process so that they understand what is going on and enjoy the experience all the way through - this also means during steps that may not involve the client at all such as a photoshoot day!
Rebecca's tip: Mention information early and often! For example, we mention our photoshoot from the very beginning when we meet our clients so that they understand that this is as much a step in our process as is the consultation.

How to use magnetic marketing to grow your interior design business with Pamela Durkin

How to use magnetic marketing to grow your interior design business with Pamela Durkin

In this episode, we talk about something that I love… MARKETING!
I sat down with, interior designer and business coach, Pamela Durkin to chat about magnetic marketing that can attract the best clients to you and help you grow your business. About Pamela Durkin Design is powerful and Pamela wants designers to step into that power. After 30 years in the high-end design business, she is now helping other designers create a business they love through her In Demand Designer Program. She teaches them how to be magnetic and attract the best clients. This method makes owning a design business easier and more fulfilling. Her book, Elevate! can be found on Amazon.
Pamela Durkin has been a professional interior designer for over 30 years. She is a past president of ASID Florida South Chapter and served on the Board of Architecture and Design in NJ. She lives in Naples, FL, and in her spare time, loves spending time on the beach and learning new moves in her home dance studio.

Through this episode, we chatted about finding and meeting your ideal clients where they are at. We connected over our shared views on using your genuine personality to connect with clients on a deeper level. Clients are more likely to connect with YOU, the person, rather than you, the business.

Pamela also shared her observation of how designers tend to focus on providing a report on the transformation of a space, rather than how it improved the lives of clients and why it was done. Building a future client base means talking more about the "WHY" and how you helped solve a problem, rather than how you got to the end result.

We also chatted about Pamela's book, Elevate! How to Take Your Design Business from the Basement to the Penthouse!, is now available on Amazon.

You’re better than you think you are. You’re further along than you think are. You’ve done more than you think you have. Pat yourself on the back for that. Just be happy where you’re at and sometimes reflect on how far you’ve come. Be thankful for that. Pamela Durkin You can connect with Pamela on Instagram at @pameladurkin, and at pamela-durkin.com.

Ensuring you get to style your clients' space every time

Ensuring you get to style your clients' space every time

Designers, if you have styling questions, this episode is for you! In this episode, I talk all about styling and how you can ensure you actually get to style your clients’ spaces. For many designers, towards the end of the project, the client is spent and does not want to spend more money.  As much as they like us, they may want a break from having us in their home.
So how do you approach the subject of styling so that you can feel satisfied with the outcome and can photograph the space for marketing purposes, as well as have the client agree to all that?
In general terms, I plant the seed early on and communicate our process to include styling as a part of the experience.
It's all about how you sell it and paint the visual for the client.
Listen to the episode for my full tips!

Love Love Love

I love that I found this podcast… As a graduating student of design and a mom of 3…. Who went back to school to follow her passion of design….I can relate to so much to what Rebecca is sharing and love that she is opening up and letting all new designers know how to get started in their business the right way… Being honest and sharing her mistakes and challenges along the way as well as being encouraging…will help me get a good grasp on what is ahead for me in this business. I can’t wait to take her coaching class! Jen
