FROM THE VAULT: Dr. Stacy Sims: Women Are Not Small Men

Welcome back to The Mom Sweat Sanity Podcast. Today, we’re going into the vault and bringing back one of the conversations from earlier this year that I genuinely think is worth hearing again. Our most listened to in the first half of the year.  My conversation with Dr. Stacy Sims. If you know her work, you know the phrase: women are not small men. And this conversation was such an important reminder that the way we train, fuel, recover and take care of ourselves as women needs to actually reflect our physiology, and the season of life we're in. And honestly, I think sometimes we hear something once, take what we need from it in that moment, and then six months later we hear it completely differently. So whether you listened the first time or this is brand new to you, I wanted to bring this one back. From the vault, here is my conversation with Dr. Stacy Sims. 🎙️ THE MOM SWEAT SANITY PODCAST Motherhood • Mindset • Fitness • Goal Setting for Modern Moms Hosted by Brittany Anderson — Certified High Performance & Accountability Coach, entrepreneur, speaker, retreat host, endurance athlete, and mom of three. A Mom Moment on Teenagers, Letting Go & the Empty Nest Countdown

No guest. No framework. No three neat takeaways. Just Brittany, in it — same as you. It's been a while since a Weekly Mom Moment, and there's a reason for that. These episodes require actually sitting still with what's going on, and life has been full in a way that made stillness feel like a luxury. But the whole reason this podcast exists is to say the thing out loud so you don't feel crazy for feeling it too. So this week, she's saying some things out loud. The family back from Portugal — two weeks that were their son's grad trip, and a deliberate choice to give time instead of something you unwrap. Brittany gets honest about the myth that magical family moments just happen if you love your kids enough. They don't. You carve them out, you protect the calendar like it's a client meeting, and you have to be the one who sees the window closing. Nobody else is going to point it out. She talks about the different dynamic of the trip — their son brought his girlfriend — and gives permission for the complicated flicker of feeling that comes with that. She talks about watching him be a partner to someone, a preview of the man he becomes when she's not in the room. Then there's the tattoo. He got another one, and so much of it looks like hers. He told his dad he wanted pieces of it to reflect both relationships. He put his parents on his body, permanently, on purpose — at nineteen, when he doesn't have to make room for them in his story at all. And right behind that honour comes the other feeling: he moves out again in under two weeks, and he'll be gone for eight months. Brittany goes into the math she keeps doing that isn't helping. The sound of his footsteps on the stairs she didn't know she'd memorized. Their eldest daughter leaving next year. Being down to one kid in the house and sitting in her kitchen thinking, what is this life, where did this go? And she talks about their youngest — going into tenth grade, still the funny, easy, happy one, but changing. The moments she goes quiet. The hugs she takes without explanation. The work of not chasing it, not filling the silence with twelve questions, and trusting she has good people in place and will come when she's ready. This episode is about holding two things at once, which might be the entire skill of parenting teenagers. Grief and pride, in the same breath. Missing him and being thrilled for him. Loving that they're becoming their own people and quietly wishing for a few more years of them being hers. If you're in this season — if you're staring down a kid leaving, watching one pull away, or just realizing your window is smaller than you thought — the ache isn't a sign you're doing it wrong. The ache is the receipt. And if you're still in the hard early years and this feels like a distant problem: nobody's telling you to cherish every moment. Just that the time is the whole thing. It was always the time.   Magical family moments don't happen on their own. At this stage, nobody hands you the time or warns you the window is closing. You have to be the one who sees it and protects it. Unstructured time is where the real conversations live. Not sit-down mom questions — car rides, long waits, walks with no destination. Boredom with your teenagers is underrated. Memories are what make them want to be part of you. At a certain point, coming home becomes optional. The years of showing up are what make them choose it. The flicker of feeling when a new person joins your family isn't ungenerous. It's just love that hasn't figured out where to reorganize itself yet. This stage of mothering isn't managing anymore — it's being available. It's harder to stand in the doorway and wait to be invited in than it is to fix the problem. Grief and pride can occupy the same breath. Holding two opposite true things at once may be the entire skill of parenting teenagers. If they leave, it means it worked. The goal was always to build someone who could go. Knowing that in your head and feeling it in your body are completely different things.   "The ache isn't a sign you're doing it wrong. The ache is the receipt." "I'm not building memories for nostalgia. I'm building a family that they choose to keep coming back to." "He put us on his body. On purpose. Permanently." "Nobody is going to say, 'Hey, your window is closing, you should probably book something.' You have to be the one who sees the window." "It's not managing anymore. It's being available." "The goal was always to build someone who could leave." "Boredom is underrated. Unstructured time with your teenagers is where the good stuff lives." "The time is the whole thing. It was always the time." empty nest countdown, letting go of teenagers, son moving out, raising teenagers, motherhood transition  launching teenagers, teen pulling away, mom of teens podcast, family memories with teenagers, grad trip ideas, teenage daughter distant, kids leaving home, intentional family time, parenting teens with connection, empty nest anxiety, mother son relationship, last year at home, family travel with teenagers, vulnerable motherhood, ambitious moms podcast   #MomSweatSanity #MomOfTeens #RaisingTeenagers #EmptyNestMom #LettingThemGo #MotherhoodUnfiltered #ParentingTeens #IntentionalMotherhood #FamilyMemories #MomLifeReal #TeenagersAndMoms #MOMentumCollective #VancouverMom #MomPodcast 🔥 READY FOR SUPPORT? Why Your Kids Feel Your Nervous System Before They Hear Your Words | Katherine Aucoin

Mama, if you've ever found yourself yelling and then spiraling in guilt afterward — this episode is going to feel like a giant, oxytocin-filled exhale. 💛 I sat down with Katherine Aucoin — a former therapist of 9 years who transitioned into trauma-informed parenting coaching because she realized moms didn't need more parenting books, Instagram scripts, or willpower. They needed to heal themselves first. We get into the science of why you can decide in your head to stay calm and still explode — and it's not because you're a bad mom. It's because your nervous system is running the show, and no amount of memorized parenting phrases can override a body stuck in fight-or-flight. Katherine walks us through: 🧠 What "trauma-informed" actually means — and why it's not an excuse, it's the opposite 🔥 What's happening in your brain in the 3 seconds before you yell (spoiler: your prefrontal cortex is offline) 👶 Why your kids feel your nervous system state more than they hear your words — especially kids 7 and under 💥 Where the gentle parenting movement has gone sideways — and why "firm AND kind" is what kids actually need to feel safe 🌸 The containment hug — a live nervous system regulation demo you can do in 30 seconds (yes, I did it with her) 🧬 The oxytocin vs. dopamine truth about the female nervous system — and why your screen time is depleting your regulation reserves 🪞 Reparenting yourself — what it actually means and how it breaks generational cycles for your kids 🎯 Her signature somatic + inner child coaching process — starting with today's trigger and working back to the root cause ☀️ Her brand new program: "Stop Yelling Before Summer" — a 6-week intensive built for moms who are at capacity and out of tools This one is for the mom who's tried all the parenting books, saved all the reels, and still feels like she's failing. You're not. You just haven't been given the right entry point — and that entry point is you.     nervous system regulation for moms · trauma-informed parenting · stop yelling as a mom · mom rage · somatic healing for mothers · reparenting yourself · breaking generational cycles · gentle parenting · mom triggers · Katherine Aucoin · Blossoming Mother · parent coach BC · containment hug · dysregulated mom #MomSweatSanity #TraumaInformedParenting #NervousSystemRegulation #MomRage #StopYelling #GenerationalHealing #Reparenting #SomaticHealing #ConsciousMotherhood #GentleParenting #MomsHelpingMoms #MotherhoodJourney #BreakingCycles #MomLife #MomPodcast 🌸 Connect with Katherine Aucoin Instagram: @katherine.aucoin  Website: blossomingmother.com   🔥 READY FOR SUPPORT? Dr. Kelly Casperson + Friends on Hormones, HRT & Everything You Weren't Told LIVE Panel Podcast

You Have Permission: Hormones, HRT & Everything You Weren't Told LIVE Panel Podcast What happens when you put 100 women in one room and four of the most trusted voices in women's health on one stage? This. Recorded live at Seymour Golf & Country Club, this episode of the Mom Sweat Sanity Podcast tackles the conversations we've been told to whisper about — hormones, HRT, weight, testosterone, and the permission every woman deserves to stop waiting for. Host Brittany Anderson opens with the belief that built this whole room: most of us are waiting for permission — to want more, to take up space, to ask for support — and everything shifts the moment we stop. Then the panel goes there. Honestly, generously, and with a lot of laughter. In this episode: Why that stubborn 5–10 lbs around the midsection is about far more than "eating less" — and the 11 hormonal systems actually at play What to test before you accept "your labs are normal" Is it ever too late to start hormones? The truth about the "age 60" myth (and the 102-year-old who's been on HRT for 52 years) Why "it's a guideline, not a deadline" The perimenopause–ADHD connection, brain fog, and why "just start somewhere" beats another online quiz Testosterone for women: libido, mood, muscle, energy — and why the "normal" lab ranges may be, in Dr. Casperson's words, made up in-house The reframe to carry out the door: you are not broken — you were just never handed the full picture Meet the panel: Dr. Kelly Casperson — board-certified urologic surgeon, founder of the Casperson Clinic, author of You Are Not Broken, and host of the top-ranked You Are Not Broken podcast Dr. Karen Van Wyk — Medical Director of Healthcode for Women, blending family medicine, functional medicine, and somatic work for root-cause hormonal care Dr. Allana Polo, ND — naturopathic physician, founder of Polo Health & Longevity Centre, and author of The Hunger Code Shirley Weir — founder of Menopause Chicks, a community that's supported hundreds of thousands of women through perimenopause and menopause Resources mentioned: You Are Not Broken (Dr. Kelly Casperson) · The Hunger Code (Dr. Allana Polo) · Menopause Chicks community · Healthcode for Women · Polo Health & Longevity Centre A few lines that stuck with us: "Your driver's license is not a permission slip for or against something." "It's a guideline, not a deadline." "We're complicated Ferraris — not Hondas or Toyotas." "Just start somewhere." Want to be in the next room? The MOMentum Collective is a membership community for women who are done waiting for permission — with virtual coaching, monthly guest speakers, and first access to intimate in-person events like this one. The Return Flight Home: Don't Let Summer Become Drift Season

There's something powerful that happens on the flight home. Not because the vacation is ending... but because your brain is finally processing everything you've experienced. The conversations. The slower pace. The new perspectives. The woman you became while you were away. The question is... What happens after you land? In this solo episode, Brittany explores the viral "Return Flight Theory" and introduces a concept she's calling Drift Season—that quiet period where routines disappear, momentum fades, and before you know it, September arrives wondering where summer went. This episode is your invitation to enter summer with intention instead of autopilot. Inside you'll discover: Why the flight home is often where the biggest mindset shifts happen What "Drift Season" looks like (and why it happens to almost everyone) The simple mindset shift that protects your momentum without sacrificing the joy of summer Three powerful journal questions to help you create an intentional season Why choosing "first times" might be the simplest way to keep growing all summer long This isn't about doing more. It's about becoming more intentional with the life you're already living. Because summer doesn't have to be the season where you lose yourself. It can be the season where you become even more of who you're meant to be. Journal Prompts: Who did I become in the first half of this year? What do I want this summer to feel like? What is one intention I'm setting that will protect that feeling? If this episode resonated with you, send Brittany a DM on Instagram and share your one intention for the summer. @BrittanyAndersonCoaching Don't wait until September to become her. She's already here. Now go live like it.   🔥 READY FOR SUPPORT? From $2M to Burnout with Anna Lozano

From $2M to Burnout to "The Great Realignment": Anna Lozano on Doing Less & Building More We spend so much time chasing the goal that nobody prepares us for the silence on the other side of it. 🤍 In this episode, Brittany reconnects with business mentor Anna Lozano — five years after their first conversation — for a raw, expansive talk about reinvention, identity, and what it really means to build a life (and business) that feels good, not just looks good. Anna built a $2M network marketing business, then co-founded the affirmation brand Love Powered Co., scaled it to a successful exit… and then crashed into three years of grief, hives, and 75-minute daily meditations trying to answer one question: Who am I now? This conversation is for the woman in her 40s quietly rewriting her own definition of success — the one who's exhausted by hustle culture and starting to wonder if she can actually do more by being more. 🌿 In this episode, we get into: 💔 The identity void after a big win — and why no one talks about post-success grief 🔥 "The great realignment": leaving masculine hustle culture without losing your ambition 🧘‍♀️ Why slowing down feels like danger to your nervous system (and how to make it feel safe) 🛵 Anna's frazzled-to-aligned 15-minute reset (the "Vespa & Vision" frustration → gratitude method) 📲 The real reason a confident speaker can be terrified of a 90-second talking reel 🤝 "One conversation" that led to a 16,000-unit deal with Jillian Harris — and the 3 years of relationship-building underneath it 💌 The give-to-ask ratio every woman needs to audit 👧 Raising daughters who become their own kind inner voice Whether you call it frequency, intuition, or just finally listening to yourself — this one's a tune-up for your whole self. 💫   📇 CONTACT INFO Guest — Anna Lozano ⚠️  Website: https://annalozano.com/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/_annalozano/ Podcast: Prosperity Playground Podcast Host — Brittany Anderson Website: brittanderson.com Podcast: The Mom Sweat Sanity Podcast 🔥 READY FOR SUPPORT? Peptides, Cardio Addiction & the Midlife Body Reset with Stephanie Gambetta

You Can't Outrun Your Hormones: Peptides, Cardio Addiction & the Midlife Body Reset What if the workouts that used to work for you are now the exact thing wrecking your hormones? Stephanie, founder of The Loop Way, joins Brittany to unpack the world of peptides, GLP-1s, and why so many midlife women feel like their bodies have suddenly stopped responding. After a ski accident at 47 forced her to surrender the cardio addiction she'd been using to numb a divorce, Stephanie discovered peptides — and built one of the fastest-growing peptide education and coaching companies in the wellness space. We're talking BPC-157, TB-500, KPV, micro-dosing GLP-1s, why cardio is canceling out your strength, and how to build your body up instead of breaking it down. This is the conversation every woman in her 40s and 50s needs to hear. 💛 🔗 GUEST LINKS Website: theloopway.com Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/loop.way/ 🔥 READY FOR SUPPORT?
