Rihanna's "Rated R" - Ep. 23
Soon after a tragic domestic violence incident, Rihanna returned to the studio to create her darkest album to-date, “Rated R”. As a follow-up to her massive “Good Girl Gone Bad”, the album is the first introduction to an edgier Rihanna, full of dubstep, hip hop and even rock-tinged sounds. It failed to gain the popularity of her other studio efforts, though, despite the saving grace of her third single “Rude Boy”. How does the album stack up in 2023? Avril Lavigne's "Goodbye Lullaby" - Ep. 22
Following a several year hiatus, Avril Lavigne returned to her pop rock sound for 2011's "Goodbye Lullaby" - and unfortunately, audiences didn't follow suit as electro pop dominated the airwaves. The album is an introspective effort following her divorce from Sum 41's Derek Wilby, while still maintaining some light, pop punk fun. Did the album deserve to do better? Let's decide!
